Last summer I went to a craft supply swap at a local gift shop. Each participant brought one or more clear jars full of goodies - ribbons, charms, buttons, beads, rubber stamps, ephemera, tissue, paper scraps, fabric, lace, etc - to trade with someone else. I found it to be very inspirational to have new things to craft with.
Let's have a craft supply swap on MJF. Sign up for as many partners as you wish. Signups end on August 12th and the mail out deadline is September 15th. This is a general swap so there are no themes or color requirements. Just package up a minimum of 15 craft items for each of your partners in a small box or envelope. The idea is to share inspiring things from your existing stash of craft supplies - you are not required to purchase new supplies. No glass jars for this swap, please!
For small items like beads or buttons you should consider packaging several of them together as one item. A good guideline to use as you package up your items is to think about how you (or your swap partner) would feel about receiving the selection of items you have in mind.
In order to be fair to all participants, please do not sign up for this swap unless you intend to follow through with your commitment. If a problem arises during the swap please be sure to contact me right away so we can work out an alternative that is fair for all concerned. Thank you!
Ideas include but are not limited to: ribbons, tulle, fibers, beads, jewels, sequins, buttons, charms, fabric squares, yo-yos, rubber stamps, postage stamps, brads, transfers, stickers, ephemera, pretty papers, chip board cutouts, tags, photos, postcards etc that can be used for handmade cards, mail art, ATC's, match boxes, scrapbooks, altered projects and more.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,
I'd be interested in doing this swap. It might be fun if all the materials are the same color or theme. Like all buttons, ribbons, fabric in the color red for example.

I'm glad to see there is some interest in a swap! How about a "Vintage Autumn" theme that includes Autumn and Halloween oriented craft items?

I would love to join this swap, but I am not really interested in an Autumn swap, as I am already doing the Fall matchboxes. I will probably have some autumn things left over but not enough for a theme swap. I kinda like the idea of "all one color" but would really like just a generic first swap and am certainly hoping to do this again. I'll go with whatever the group decides and I'll keep looking here at the posts and decide soon. Thanks, Joey

I'll join in too. I have very little autumn or halloween stuff in my craft stuff, though I do have autumn colors like orange, red, brown. Would that work??

Joey has a good point...an autumn swap would be better done earlier in the year. So let's go with either a general swap or a specific color swap for the first round. What do you girls prefer? Do you have a particular color choice for a color swap? I love all colors but my favorites are purple and green.

Marilyn,
Please sign us up for two partners. If you are taking preferences, I would prefer there to be no restrictions. We will love whatever we are sent. Hope this makes sense.
Have a good day!

Ladies, we will go with a general swap - no colors or themes just craft supplies of your choice. I updated the first message with details and added the names of those who have signed up so far. Woolgirl and Joey please confirm if you want to join the swap. I think this is going to be really fun!

I'd like to join in, Marilyn - such a great idea! Just one question, though: are we putting all the items into a jar, or just boxing them up? I'm really looking forward to this! Thanks for hosting! - Nini

Good question Nini.....I say we should skip the glass jars and go for boxing things up.
I have you and SylviaE on the list.
