We went to a civil war museum today, which was pretty neat. I have a bunch of studying and schoolwork I SHOULD be doing, but am thinking about trying my first batch of soap and will be canning too. Well, and crocheting some dishcloths, but that is a given for me. I think we will go to fireworks on base. They always were nice where we were stationed before, I hope they are here too!

Nursing new ducklings over the weekend, playing video games in front of the AC, cooking a little and keeping the kiddos as cool as possible, we're supposed to hit 120 F this weekend! Not cool! There will be lots of swimming!

I have a recipe for strawberry lemon marmalade I have been dying to try, and it is strawberry picking time here! Lemon curd too, because I go through the stuff faster than I can make it sometimes!

We play in an old timer's band (Sousa style), so we played at an event in Ripley OH on the OH river today, tomorrow we are gong to a free concert on the river in New Richmond OH by the Marine Band, & on the 4th, playing in a parade & at a church. In between that, trying to get my garden planted. SO LATE this year. We'll see what I get harvest wise.
Playing in this band really helps us to be sure to recognize all of the patriotic holidays more than ever before.
Would love to see the Cincy Pops & their "Red White & Boom" celebration, but someone has to put the chickens away!

I'm working. But I work every weekend so I can be at home during the week. It'll change when school starts. I don't mind. Just have to be extra careful driving to work in the wee hours of the morning, trying to avoid tipsy drivers. I hope everyone has wonderful times and great food.

Well today I spent most of the day fixing fences, gates and moving Big Billy Boys. Still trying to also pick up broken things all around the farm from the two storms that hit hard here. Had dye pots going for the past two day and will be doing more of the same Sunday. The work never ends when it is just yourself but it is honest, loving work so I really do not mind... Have a wonderful weekend ladies sounds like you all have great plans. The strawberry lemon jam sounds tummy yummy - can you share recipe??? PLEASE!! On my knees...

Staying at home, watching to make sure no illegally launched bottle rockets set the house or yard on fire. While I love fireworks,I gotta say this year is esp bad for the kids & adults setting off fireworks early. I would've thought last night was the 4th if I didn't have a calandar. The poor dogs & cats outside go nuts with all the sounds. I'll be sitting on my porch watching the neighbor's display he sets off in the street every year so that'll be fun!

Elizabeth-any pics taken of the museum? I've developed an interest in the Civil War over the last year. Found out my 3rd grandfather was a CSA Captain in the 19th Texas Infantry,Company G. Wish I had a pic of him to share. His son was a well known hoedown fiddler locally & by learning fiddle,I feel I'm carrying on a family tradition.

Well, for the first time in over 25 years I will be away from my hunny and some of my kids this holiday! Actually...THEY will be away from me!!

The younger boys and hubby are off to Boy Scout camp for the week! It is just 45 minutes away but still, too far to see them daily. We live in a very touristy area of the Poconos and so it will be mad crazy here traffic worse! I will stay put with my older two kiddos and probably start my HUGE basement painting, sprucing up project! the weather looks to be HOT!!

You all are SO busy it puts me to shame!

Just a Brooklyn, NY gal trying to figure out this country thing after 12+ years in the woods of NE PA! Wife of my HS sweetie going on 23 years and mom to the amazing four ages 19(g), 17(s), 14(s), 13(s)!

I am home watching my daughter's dog while she and her family are on a camping vacation. Hubby is home for a change on Monday so he decided to fix some of the door locks. I hung out a load of wash but had to bring it in a little before it was ready because my neighbor decided to burn stuff with smoke going everywhere. Still trying to get the rest of the garden planted. Came in for some lunch and a cup of tea to boost my energy then back out to at least finish planting the string beans. Then I'm calling it a day for any more work outside; too hot out there. Don't know what my boys and there family's are up to today. Will spend the rest of the afternoon knitting on a sock that is taking way too long to make. Plan on having fried chicken and potato salad for dinner; just me and hubby.

Donna, I'm in the Poconos too. It's pretty quiet here this year, but a good time to stay home. Traffic was really bad yesterday. Not about to go anywhere today. Traffic is usually the worst when the Pocono Raceway has a NASCAR Race.

We froze peas, made blueberry butter and syrup, freezer strawberry jam, a giant chocolate chip cookie for my DD's birthday today, fireworks on Saturday night, mulched potatoes on our land and put chicken wire around the apple trees, mini-golfing in Wisconsin Dells this morning, visited "A Day on the Farm" at the Pioneer village on the outskirts of town, 6 1/2 mile walk with my neighbor this morning, 5K on Saturday morning, put herbs on dehydrator, picked currants and sour cherries...that might be a about it. Now I am sitting nursing the blisters on my feet from the long walk this morning before we walk to where our truck is parked at the soccer fields where the fireworks are tonight! I need to go back to work and relax
