Congratulations Debra
You will have a great time. I love old sewing machines. Let us know how it works. I have a treadle but have never taken the time to tune it up. I think I will have to make time for it.
Blessings,

I have an 1879 Singer treadle that I got for 36.00 on Ebay. It has the bullet shaped shuttle bobbin. I have managed to find places online that have the belts and bobbins.
Have fun and enjoy yours Debra!

Or a trouble is what you make it!

But only--how did you take it?

Yeah!! Good for you! I hope you really enjoy it. I have my great grandma's treadle, but haven't been able to use it yet because the house we're in is so small. I'm waiting for the house we're building but it's taking sooooo long,it seems. One of our Amish stores carries the belts, too, if you have one of those around you might check.

Tried out my treadle sewing machine yesterday. Oh! How I had fun trying it out. How funny I must of looked trying to treadle and it was sewing backwards. But once I got it going, I finally got it to sew forward.
Great memories. My grandmother used to sew on one of this treadle, when I was little. Remembered her sewing up clothes for me. How she could treadle...and FAST. Well looking forward to treadling soon. Great work out as well.
