My daughter is in this Pippi Longstocking obesessed mode presently. I want to make her a doll, but really don't know where to start. Does anybody have any suggestions? I want to just make a rag doll she can drag around.

How old is she? If younger then you should embroider the face & eyes-no small parts that way. Any doll pattern should work just adjust the hair & face to look like Pippi. I would probably make the legs longer to give her the long & lanky look. Hope this helps!

She is 3m so I was thinking ebroidered features for sure! Do you think I can use the Raggedy Ann pattern? Those are kind of long-limbed.

Yes that should work-just make long red pigtails instead of the floppy hair. Post some pics -I would love to see it! At 3 she will think it is Pippi!

I agree, embroider the face and make long red braids! A raggedy ann type pattern would be perfect! Do you have a pattern?

Yes, a raggedy ann doll pattern would be perfect and it would be very easy to make the legs longer!

I don't have one June but hopefully I can find a freebie online. I am trying to use up my craft supply before I buy anything new. It is starting to take over the house!

I don't have a computer at home (only here are work) so I may not be back on until Monday or Tuesday but I think I know where it is.

I found 2 patterns, one is Holly Hobbie and the other is a very similar looking doll, just a much older pattern. Both have been used so I will make sure all pieces are in the envelope and maybe get a pic so you can pick which would work best for you. Will try to do that tomorrow but I'm glad your not in a big hurry.

Liz,
Found the 2 doll patterns this onehttp://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/Simplicity_6141_A and the Holly Hobbie http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&op=listing&product_id=1403232 The first pattern I think is a cuter doll but there are 2 pattern pieces missing but would be easy to improvise. One is a small round piece you stuff and gather for her nose and the other is the sole of the foot. There is a pattern for the shoes and the sole of the foot looks just like the sole of the shoe but maybe a tiny bit smaller.
Let me know which you would like and I will be glad to send either to you.

Whichever you think is easier! My sewing skills are a little lacking...I can sew clothes and the such, I get nervous to try new things though! Thanks so much!
