I am looking for an herbal rinse to get the green and orange out of a 4 year olds blonde hair - loves the pool but the chlorine sure does a number on her almost white blonde hair. Than you in advance for your help/advice.

Ketchup! It's been a life saver for our little blonde.

Straight from the bottle? When you see the color change or after each day at the pool?

Yep straight from the bottle like shampoo - we used it when we saw a slight color change and then once a week-ish after that.

I used to spritz lemon juice on my daughter's hair and leave it on for 15-20 minutes before washing. Then use a light conditioning shampoo. Worked like a charm for us!

I haven't found anything to use that is natural. I have blond hair and I use something I got from my hairdresser to take the brassy out and bring it back to its natural color. The minerals in our water do a number on my hair so I do this once a month. I know it is not natural but I haven't found anything else that works. Not sure what in the ketchup would be working to get the chlorine out?

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

Next go to a swimmers store (a store that specializes in swim stuff) and buy a swim cap, steer away from latex they aren't too good, you want a silicone one! They range upwards of 20 dollars, but so much better then having the icky chlorine in the hair and counter acting it!

I swim often and it really helps to put conditioner in hair before swimming and wear a swim cap. Just condition the hair and leave it in, then after swimming shampoo and wash it out. I use Giovanni conditioner which isn't herbal but it is organic. Good luck.

If it's your pool...we switched from chlorine to hydrogen peroxide in our pool. Tons better for you, and it worked great for us, as far as keeping algae and all that away. It might be worth looking into...

If you own your own I highly recommend a ozonator. (they come in different brand names). My uncle invented it about 35 years ago. It basically uses reverse osmosis to clean the water and you don't need chlorine at all. He had a large pool and hot tub and most of us was alergic to the chlorine so he worked on inventing this most my young childhood. I think most hot tub/pool stores sells some brands of it. They are great in my opinion. Recently my cousin Cheri was selling Prozone (my uncles brand, his financial sponsor for the ozonator took the patten and sold it with out my uncles permission that's why there is several brands of them now) on QVC not long ago though as well.

We were blonde before that, Lisa! I never noticed much lightening in my hair during the summer, when I would swim for hours every day.

My family members all swear by ketchup. They say it is the best thing for getting the green out.
