I just bought one to replace my old OXO one that is missing a part (???) I don't know WHAT I did with it!
I ended up with a new one from Kohl's, made by Food Network. I didn't want a humongous one, and this was a perfect size--it was regularly $39.99 on sale for $19.99 and I had a $10 Kohls Cash card so that made it $9.99. I think they're so pricey, but it's a necessary kitchen tool if you're eating your homegrown greens.
I do think they're wonderful, but now I think the greens season is over on my CSA end so I'll probably have to wait until fall again!

I put my lettuce in an old pillowcase & shake it. Does the same thing & much cheaper. I, too, had an OXO, but it took up so much space; I gave it away. |

pillowcase is great and uses upper body movement! LOL. You just need to get the momentum going. ![](icons/icon_smile_wink.gif) I personally use the OXO and have had it for years. Haven't had a problem and for me it is well worth the $$.

I found my salad spinner at the thrift store for two dollars. Works like a charm.

I got an OXO for Christmas, and I love it. actually got a gift card for 25.00 and the spinner was on sale from 59 to 39 so I paid 14. I am very pleased, it is a metal bowl and after you spin, remove the top and dump out water and pour the greens into the bowl and wala, you have a nice salad bowl. and it is a large one. I did see one at wal-mart the other night and I think it was under 20. the pillowcase may work, but these are nice and the greens are great, after you spin just refrigerate and they crisp right up because of the water being spun out. I think it is well worth the money, and the time . Good luck deciding what you want! Farmgirl #946 Linda |

I have no idea what brand mine is, I got it at a rummage sale for a local church for 50 cents and it's fantabulous! I've used others before that have a middle that the salad greens spin around, but mine doesn't have that. (Think like a regular washer with the agitator and the new top-loading ones without an agitator.) Anyways, it holds so much salad and dries my greens great!

i bought one at Ikea for about ten bucks. I do agree with the pillowcase idea but then i also use my salad spinner to spin water out of my knitting when blocking it, so double duty!

I got mine at a mall store that sells kitchen supplies-can't think of the name (sorry). I paid about three dollars for it. Nothing fancy but it works. Cindy

I have the Oxo brand. Love it! I keep lettuce in the fridge in it. Easy to reach in the bowl and put some on dh's sandwiches or grab a bunch for a salad.
I've seen them at our local resale shop now and then. Do you have a resale shop you could check?
I just picked up a brand new cuisinart ice cream maker for $8.00. I just keep going back and checking for the items on my wish list.

I got mine at Sam's Club. Before that I used a pillow case ! But I use mine for fruits like strawberry, blueberry, raspberry ... you get the idea. No bruised fruit here. Under $20.00 and worth it for us. Tammyb
