No Debbie you don't want him closer - forget what the picture looks like be safe. We had a bear thru here a couple of years ago and he ripped apart the wood deck of my neighbors - tore the whole thing apart including the back door. One nice thing about have three great pry's is their barking and hard work keep the bears and mountain lions for the most part away from the animals and me but I do during certain times of the year take a dog with me when I am in my forest... Never can be too careful... Be safe - you don't want to be a bears animal cracker...

What a beautiful picture Debbie! Better to enjoy the bear from a safe distance, though! Are you on the East or West side of the Rockies?
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Thanks Marilyn, yes he was beautiful, but I know to keep my distance, they have been coming around here for the 3 years I have lived here so we are use to them. But, we never let our guard down, I bring my hummingbird food and bird seed in every night we do not want to take any chances. When we walk I carry my bear spray and my personal body alarm which is pretty darn loud, just in case. We live on the the East side of the Rockies, we have a view of Pikes Peak from our back deck. Farmgirl Hugs, Debbie

That is so cool... but way too close for my comfort, I'd have to say. Sometimes when we drive up through the woodsy mountain areas, we have caught a glimpse of a cub running up the hill from the highway. It's kind of neat - but as long as they keep their distance! ;) Hugs - Nini

That is so neat! Visiting my mom in Idaho I have seen elk, deer and moose on her property. But not any bears. I hope that some day I will be able to seen one (in the safety of a house, preferrably).

Happy it is, indeed, for me that my heart is capable of feeling the same simple and innocent pleasure as the peasant whose table is covered with food of his own rearing, and who not only enjoys his meal, but remembers with delight the happy days and sunny mornings when he planted it, the soft evenings when he watered it, and the pleasure he experienced in watching it’s daily growth.
