Since the ATC swaps have been so popular, I thought maybe we could do some jams! I have done only a few in the past, but they were a lot of fun. I wanted to throw out the idea and see if there was enough interest first - if there is enough interest, I'll host some jams here on MJF.
-- If you are wondering exactly what an ATC is, Beth has already done a great job explaining here: http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=50300
But what, exactly, is an ATC Jam, you ask? Well, jams are a three partner swap where in the end, all 3 gals ends up with the same ATC, but all have contributed to the outcome. Let me illustrate. Suzi starts by making three identical ATCs. She doesn't completely make them, maybe only doing a couple steps. Let's say Suzi puts a patterned paper on an ATC blank and places a border die cut along the bottom edge. She makes 3 exactly the same, adds her name, town, and contact info (address and/or email) to the back, then sends them all to Mary. Mary continues the artistic process by whatever means she sees fit. Maybe she paints or decoupages an image in the center of the ATC, and adds glitter highlights to the background. Whatever she does, she does the identical thing to each of the 3 ATCs, adds her info to the back, and then sends all three ATCs to Sally. Sally then completes each of the ATCs with her artistic input. Maybe she adds a ribbon bow to the top, a few rhinestones, etc. The exact artistic input at each step isn't important. What is important is that the finished ATCs are a cumulative artistic endeavor between all three gals, with each adding their own steps to the finished product. And, all three final ATCs are identical. As the third and last contributor, Sally would then add her info to the back and send one each to both Suzi and Mary, keeping the last one for herself. Each of the three gals then has an identical ATC, and all 3 have helped create the unique piece of art!
So, anyone interested in doing an ATC jam or two? Obviously, partners would be in groups of three. Also, I would say that once you receive your ATC jams, you should complete your step and mail them out within 10 days, to keep things flowing.
If I see enough interest, I will post another "official" thread for sign-ups.

This sounds so great! I love ATC swaps and being able to add to the creativity of others sounds like such fun! Sorry I missed this Jam Swap. Please somebody give me a shout-out the next time you do a jam. I'm not on e-mail everyday and maybe on MJF once to twice a week. Blessings, Andrea |
