So, how can I start my small garden with all of this torrential rain we have been having? I mean, we're talking serious rain! Not as bad as our southern states (SO heartbreaking I feel guilty complaining about my piddly little issues!). The ground is saturated with a capital SAT!!!
Do I stick with my original idea of container gardening? Do I wait until we have several dry days (HA! Our forecast has rain every day for the next week and it has rained every day for the past 2+!)?
Also, re soil testing---can I get an accurate test with sopping soil? And do those tests at Wal-Mart really work?

I am a beginning gardener but last year when they forecast rain for several days I put a large tarp over my small garden area and it kept most of the water out. I just removed the tarp and was ready to plant when the sunshine came back.

OH! I wish I could have done that---this is the THIRD WEEK of straight rain---crazy :0). I am leaning towards the container gardens then if it gets too bad I can move the plants to the front porch!

We've had rain 5 out of every 7 days since the snow melted. We have finally been 3 days without rain and today has been nearly all sun. We are supposed to be rain free for 1 more maybe 2 days.
My hubby actually tilled out drainage runoffs at the end of our garden. It has reduced the 6 inches of water in the bottom 1/3 of our garden to just a mushy and very slowly stiffening mud.
We are gonna till out a few more runoffs tomorrow and then try to get our garden out. We are almost 2 months behind now.
On a really strange note, we got 3 whole nights of hard frost last week, so what didn't drowned froze! I guess it's kinda good that we didn't have much invested in the garden. We lost about $25 in seed between the early stuff that drowned and the other starts that died in the greenhouse waitin for garden spots. I couldn't harden them off or plant them due to the rain which came with tons of wind too.
It's been a hard spring everywhere!

I would start with containers, you can always transplant when things dry out a bit! At least you will be gardening ... :)
