I found a 6ft wooden ladder in perfect shape. It is really old. My question is should I leave the ladder the way it is or should I paint it? What color? What suggestions do you have for support between the rungs should I use to put pots of herbs and flowers on. |

Patsy...I love your Farmgirl name...Dirtduchess! Too cute! I would leave the ladder rustic if it were me. I love that you are going to put flowers and herbs on it. That will be charming. Is it going on a Porch or Patio or in the house? Take pictures and post them when you get it finished. I would love to see it.
Blessings, Peggy

Peggy, Thanks for the suggestion. I really think that would be the best to do. I will take pictures of it when I have it completed. I will probably put it on the south east part of our porch. You would love my porch. It is a covered 15x73 porch. We spend a lot of time.

oh yes, indeed I would love your Porch. The Bigger the Better! Mine is more like 7ft by 4ft...even though it is small I still love it! It barely fits me and my two dogs, a red rocking chair and a small table and many plants and flowers...but it is my little Peace (no, I didn't spell it wrong) of Paradise. I love sitting in my rocker reading and watching people go by and listening to the laughter and noise of the children out playing. It soothes my soul!
Hugs, Peggy

If I could find an old ladder, I'd paint it pink and purple and green and yellw. I love colors like that in the garden. With cute little colored pots. I have a really old bike that came with this house that I painted pink and purple. I added a little basket with pink and purple flowers and put some of the same colored petunias in it and another planter on the back. It looks so cute right behind the day lillies. I want some bright colored lawn furniture too.
This is a picture of it last year right after I painted it. I need to get flowers for it again.

Kris, you are talking my language. I love pink and purple together. My husband let me paint his metal hitching rail mauve. It looks lovely. He sure got a lot of teasing from his cowboy pals. But he was big enough to take it. In one of my raised flower gardens I have a 12 ft. metal post with an old time large school bell on top. I painted the post purple. Love your bicycle.

Thanks, y'all. This year from that view I can hardly see the bike now with all the day lillies. I still need to get some flowers for it. I love colorful garden accessories. Just cheers a place up.
