Also it is tough to work with, but you get used to it after awhile.

I have sent the pattern out to those who have requested it. I will again stress the importance of buying the right raffia. www.nashvillewraps.com has the best. Click on the raffia heading on the left and then click on Paper Wraphia. It is challenging to work with. It does not give like yarn. I also dropped two to three rows on the western hat-see previous post. If any of you are having trouble with the pattern just e-mail me. I have made many and can do it in my sleep. Also, that pattern is copywrited and I hope I am not going to get in trouble for sharing it. I am sad that they are sold out. I think maybe Crochet Assylum is going out of business. I have also been experimenting with a soft elastic band on the inside and a woven wire at the edge of the brim.
Any of you farmgirls that want to buy a hat from me can e-mail me directly. I sell them for $38 plus shipping. I will post more photos of the western hats later today, when I can get my daughter to pose. They look so cute on!

Soooo cute,,,& Thank you Diane for the pattern..you won't get in trouble, as you are not selling/profitting from the creator of the pattern. Whew! But never fear, we farm girls would bake you a cake w/a file in it to help you escape if ya got sent to the Hoosegough! lol!
Now I am off to order the raffia.....I figure if I can't get the hang of it, I can pester Kpaint~karen or roughstart~Maryann, both live near me. Thank you again....I can hardly wait to try my hand at crocheting a hat...wiah me luck! farmgirl hugz

Well, I'd do more than bake a cake with a file in it to get YOU outta the slammer . . . but I'm pretty sure I don't have to worry about it. It certainly won't be from sending ME the pattern, because I can't crochet!!! You girls have fun crocheting hats . . . I'll just wear Diane's! CJ

LOVE, love, love the hats! Great project! I'm a little nervous to try to crochet something other than yarn, but your hats are so cute I think it would be worth it to learn!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Diana,
You are making such lovely hats! I know our Farmgirls are just loving them! Thanks for all you are doing and for sharing too. May you be blessed many times over.
You can take a wonderful pattern but you don't always get your wonderful results. I'd say those hats are really sparkling in your creative hands and caring heart!

OK, I have sent out about 20 patterns. If any of you girls have questions while making your hats, just e-mail me. I am expecting a picture of the hats when you are done! Another reminder to use the correct raffia. I tried using some I found at Michaels and it just did not perform as well as the Paper Wraphia from Nashville Wraps. It was also $2 higher per 100 yard roll.

Diane, Your daughter is a lovely model for your beautiful hats. The patterns came in the mail yesterday, thanks so much. I going to play around with it and see if I can up with something I can wear with my hair put up in a bun. I took and old hat and cut the top off so it was a topless hat. Not exactly what I wanted but kinda. I want enough so that I can put a ribbon or something fancy around it and may need to play with the elastic inside like you said. Let me know how that works.
Thanks again.

Kathy, The girl in the photo is a friend of mine...I am still trying to pin my DD down to model for me! The broad in the green sun hat is none other than "herself"! I am currently making two navy blue western ones for some fellow farmgirls. It is rainy out today, so I will be crocheting.
