I just ate my first strawberry of the season! I was out planting tomatoes and peppers and was gathering up all my stuff and looked in the strawberry bed. And I saw it. A big ole red ripe perfect strawberry! Not a blemish on it. My hands were all full of dirt so I washed them real good then washed the strawberry. Popped that perfect red juicy jewel in my mouth and WOW that was the best strawberry I ever ate! And it's the only one I saw in that bed. I'll have to go check the field now for more. One is not enough. Gotta have more now.

Has anyone else had their very first just picked perfect strawberry yet?

Sounds scrumptious, Kris! Strawberry season won't be for another few weeks, here in Kentucky. Darn it, you southerners always beat us!!!

I knowm Candy. I am always the first one to get them. I do not feel bad at all. IF the grands are here I might share with them. Maybe. Naw, I do.

Jonni, you will get some soon. You aren't that far behind us.

Strawberries are just blooming!! More are still not even up yet. Oh how I wish they were ready! This is making my mouth water! I can't wait!

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Well, I will surely think of you all when I get my next berry. They will be here soon all over. And we will all be savoring those big red juicy berries.

I still have several weeks before my fruit appears. Am looking forward to it! Have to get a net, though, to prevent the stinkin birds from getting to them.

Sherrye, I have some of the ones you sent last year. They are a bit behind mine. I hope you get some soon. They should come back.

Jackie, I have to cover everything here because of chickens. They are all over. And they LOVE anything red. Darn ole birds. So I try to get them before they do. They still get in some of the beds.

I picked another one the other day when my mom was with me. I wanted to eat it so bad. But I shared. It was good. I can hardly wait to get enough to actually make something with.

I was out in the strawberry jungle and found a bunch that I just ate right there. Too good to wait to go all the way back up to the house. They are clean anyway. I want more!

I miss my strawberries to nibble on while working in the garden. I tried to start another strawberry patch after we moved and had to give up. It was a loosing battle with a particular weed that had a long tap root and lots of runners. It's all over my yard but very bad when it came to strawberries.
