I have had a 5 gallon bucket of goat poop for a long time. It's been getting rained on and set here and there. I finally just took it out to the garden and got a glass jar, with rubber gloves, and watered my tomatoes and cabbage and broccoli plants. Also put a little on my grape vines. I just put probably a 1/4 cup on each plant. It's very watered down. I hope it wasn't too much so soon. But I want some cabbage so I thought this might give them a boost.
Does anyone else do this? And what were the results? Did the plants do well?

Great to see this & yes I do this & love it.....I was just telling my sister how to make the tea this last week for her gardens as well as doing a weed tea.....not as good or strong as poo but some plants especially flowers sure like it....she doesn't have goats but I told her when she got her ow poo to take a bit of it & put it in a old towel, rag or t-shirt & tie it up & drop it in her water bucket to set for a few days.....me I am using the chicken poo thats been out in the compost for a year to do up a batch for my garden this year...thats if all the rain we have had hasn't washed it all away that is.......Michele'

Absolutely I do that! I use the excess liquid from my worm composting bin all the time. I don't think you did any harm at all. It's not like chemicals. There really is no wrong time to use manure tea. It is balanced enough to use at any point in the growing cycle. If I had goats I'd be filling buckets! Sit back now and watch them grow and turn a beautiful green!

Michele, I have heard of composting toilets. I had thought about getting one when we first bought this house but then I saw how much they were. I have a friend who lives off grid and she had a bucket with some kind of sawdust stuff we had to put in after each use. Then she would compost it all when it was full. I had thought about that too but no, not in the house!
Connie, you are welcome to come get a bucket or 2 of goat poop if ya want! There's plenty. Along with cow and chickens. Goat is cleaner though. Cow poop has so much trash in it that spreads into the garden. SO I would much rather use goat. Alos rabbit poop is great for the garden.

I use my coffee grnds and tea bags to do the same...i let it sit in sun about a week. Then use it straight. The grounds then go in compost. I also crunch up egg shells and soak them in vingear.. It pulls calicum out of shells. I mix it in with coffee water, then hand water plants...

The coffee grinds are my secret weapon! :) I've never heard of the eggshell idea-how interesting!

Aw, come on, Nancy. It's really not that bad with gloves on. And a mask. But oh so good for the plants. They love it. And all these other ideas are good too. I put my coffee grounds in the compost. And egg shells too.

My Windy Pines Farmgirl cousin, Michele, makes up a brew of cow manure tea. From what I hear it works beautifully for her bountiful garden.

Yes! We've been brewing tea for a little while now, we use poop from everything on the farm. So far it has worked very well with the plants. However, what I found to work better than anything else is to put the water from a fish tank on plants. When I had a few tanks, I did that and man what a difference it made! I've also used the water from our ducks swimming pool for the plants.

Rachel, when we first planted our strawberries, they said to put fish emulsion in the hole first. They really took off. So I guess there really is something good about fish poo too.
