Remember when there was an article in MJF about making your own tags? Was wondering if any of you girls have done it using a computer & if so how did you do it?

Sherrie,
I've made my own tags by papercrafting them. Cutting them in whatever shape and size I want from cardstock, punch a hole in the top or wherever I want it (usually use reinforcement stickers, but sometimes make my own too), embellish with all kinds of embellishments (papers, buttons, wire, ribbon, etc., etc.) I have used my business stickers (small clear labels) on the back. I have a set of small letters stamps (one set lower case, one set upper case) and sometimes stamp on them whatever I want. I use either twine, ribbon or a bunch of different fibers as tie-ons.

You could use a computer program that has label templates (my Print Shop has all sizes) and create your own on the computer, print on cardstock, cut out, punch the hole and use ribbon or twine as tie-ons. I've done that as well and if there was some extra info you wanted on the tag (such as instructions for use, etc.), print it on the reverse side. I just use whatever cardstock will go through my printer. I have also printed tags on business card stock (already ready to tear apart) with other info on the reverse side. You just have to watch the direction you feed the cardstock, especially if you're printing on both side. (you could do a sample of just one image of both sides on plain paper)

Hope that helps . . .
CJ

Once I visited a craft and antique store who had the most unique way of persenting her tags. She took thumbtacks and glued old buttons to the front and used them to attach tags and signs. I thought it was such a cute idea ~ I made a set for my sister who owns a sewing/alteration shop.

thank you ladies! I picked up card stock at Big Lots awhile back-I'll use that.
