Do we have sock monkey addicts on this board? Do you have only the Red Heel monkeys or all types of sock monkeys? Did you make them or buy them?

I started one very sad pathetic sock monkey... he was my first one, and I started him when I found out I as pregnant, then we moved and I lost him, then we found him again right after I had Kaylee, and then forgot about him because I became pregnant with Halsey, Found him again just before we moved the second time.. poor thing was a body with legs but no arms.. lost him again and I think he is somewhere in storage right now patiently waiting for me to rediscover him and give the poor little guy some much needed arms and a tail.
you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive. |

OH!!! Fabulous Farm Femmes...Diane...is for sure a sock Monkey lover!! I KNOW she will respond. I think they are cute but don't collect them..I did get one for my husband for valentines day...he named him RAymond..cuz.."everybody loves Raymond". heehee

HELLO: MY NAME IS DIANE AND I AM A SOCK MONKEY ADDICT..........
A sock monkey doll was the very first hand made, homemade gift I ever received and what began a life long attraction/dedication to sewing, quilting and crafts.No one in my family does any of this but me.And it is an addiction!
My sock monkeyss name is Anna, after the lady who made him, and I have others large and small.I have made and bought both kinds. I have a friend who makes them and dresses them like Diva's with feather boas and tiaras. They are hilarious.
Are you a sock monkey nut too, Rabbithorns?
PS a shout out THANK YOU to By Hz Grace who sent me THE cutest mini sock monkey and I just realized I have yet to thank her (starting back to work after 20 some years has made me lose my mind i think!)

My brother and I had red heel sock monkeys as kids and we used to swing them around by the tails.
Wondered if thinner socks, like girl sizes and not quite as thick a knit as red heel, will work as well to make colorful monkeys. Does a thinner sock stuff as well and not be too lumpy?

I made sock people as a kid has any one ever done that takes two socks also. these can be made with tube or heal socks much better with little girl sunday socks

cute cute cute!! I hadn't seen the panels!! I got a yard of the red flannel with plain monkeys on it on it last trip to my favorite quilt shop (for the Utah girls...Corn Wagon Quilt shop in Springville...couldn't resist it..no idea what I will do with it..just had to have it.

A friend is going to do our kids' room at the new community center in a western theme and I just found reprodepot.com yesterday and called her about it. Small world. I love that place.
I wondered if she'd be willing to switch to sock monkeys but she's staying with western. Maybe I'll make a jungle office with monkeys everywhere...

My guest bathroom is decorated in vintage cowboy stuff..even the wallpaper..and I have my sock monkey in there, dressed in old western doll clothes....
Rabbithorns, you could make a "western" sock monkey for that room!
Ellen, you are so funny! Repotdepot is from our near-by "big city".
I have some of the previous monkey fabric issue, but not in chains! How fun! Always need mo' monkey fabric! |

wow the west coast has it all princess of lakebay and  reprodepots and chained monkees!! i got cowboy bears, no rawhide monkees in these parts... but then I don't have a guest bathroom for gunslinging monkees, they got to shoot straight away into mine!

Oh my goodness, I just purchased a sock monkey kit at Walmart for two dollars and then found an old sock monkey instruction book at Joann's fabrics.. Now I can't find the socks with red heels to make the.....Any one know where I can get them or some help on using regular socks....??
