I'm having trouble getting my recipes for dish soap and dishwashing detergent to really work...does anyone have really good recipes for either of these things? My dish soap is too watery and isn't cutting the grease, and my automatic dishwasher recipe just isn't getting things clean. |

Thank you two for responding to me! For the dishwasher I am using a recipe that calls for 1c washing soda, 1c Borax. 1/2 salt, and 1/2 citric acid. I tried 50/50 Borax and vinegar first and that really wasn't a go. The citric acid helped, but still left things kind of grimy. For the sink dish soap I used 1oz castile soap, 2c water, 1-2tsp glycerin, and 5-10 drops lavender essential oil. It is ok for lightweight dishes, but not for the seriously dirty. This recipe is said to be best in soft water--and I have hard water, and seemingly poor pipes for dishwashers. These two little rascals are the weak links in my homemade arsenal, I would love to get them right! Any help would be great! Thanks again, Kim

I also use the recipe above - washing soda, borax, citrus acid and salt. Works great.
