Today was the opening day of my local farmer's market. I'm so excited about the market starting up. It's still early. So, there weren't a lot of vendors or people, but it allowed me to get to know some of the folks I hadn't met previously and catch up with folks I hadn't talked to in a long time.

One thing I love about our farmer's market are the plant starts that are hard to find as seeds, at least in my area. Today, I picked up a lavender plant and a yarrow plant.

Do you participate in your farmer's market as a vendor or shopper? What do you love about your market?

Our farmer's market doesn't start till June, I believe. I like it because you can get fresh produce for less than the grocery store and it's all local. Our market also has vendors who sell jewelry, art products, recycled products, etc. Plus they sometimes have musicians playing. and I always see people I know there. But that may have to do with the crowd I hang out with :)

I adore Farmers markets, we have a small one in the town right next to us & what I love is how friendly everyone is & will take the time to talk to you...not like in grocery stores where the line of people is so long that people get rattled if you stop to talk....Farmers Markets have a whole different feel to them...its ok to look, touch, & talk....Plus you get some of the greatest items that are fresh & haven't been trucked all over the U.S.....Michele'

We have a great Farmers market in our village but it does not start up till the end of May ! I enjoy going to show my support for the local farmers and families that are just trying to get by and offer so many yummy things.

The people and sense of community are my favorite parts of the market, as well. Thanks for all your sharing.

Our Market doesn't start until May 7th and I can hardly wait! I sell at the Market and I kinda started some stuff too early and I think it will have to be harvested before we even start! Hopefully the spinach, lettuce and cabbage will hang in there for another month! I really enjoy the Market and the camaraderie among everyone.
