I thought it was time for me to stop by and introduce myself! My name is Jan and I live in Northern Virginia, very near Washington, DC. I live here with my hubby of 14 years and our almost-teen son and tween daughter. I spent my growing-up years in SoCal, so I'm thrilled that Spring has finally arrived! Ick to all that snow and cold that they call winter here.

Anyway, a little about me. I'm a SAHM, a Creative Memories Consultant and I also teach knitting and quiting through a local adult ed program. First and foremost, I'm a certified Disney nut. I love to spend my free time digi-scrapping (digital scrapbooking), mostly hanging around ScrapMatters and MouseScrappers. I also knit, sew, quilt, crochet, bake, cook, sing, garden, cook, make jam, needlepoint, embroider - you get the picture. If it's crafty, I love to do it. My current fun project is being on my church's Liturgical Arts committee, where we make the paraments (basically altar cloths) for the church and stoles for our pastor, and soon will be moving on to making banners. We have a blast doing it.

That's about it. I'm thrilled to be here. See ya'll around the forum!

Hi and welcome from Texas. You love crafts as much as I do. A group of us are making stained glass windows for our church and new paraments also. You'll love the people here, they're wonderful.

Hi,
I'm new here as well. I wanted to say that I love your part of the country. On 2 trips to Washington DC (2008 & 2009) we stayed in Balston, VA. I loved riding METRO. The entire area up there is so different than the Houston area where I've lived my entire life. I hope to go back some day for more than just a visit of a few days.

Hi Jan and welcome to the group from one newbie to another! I also grew up in S. Cal, but moved east when I married. The ex-husband now lives in Ohio and I've stayed on in his home town in upstate NY. I love going to DC and seeing all the wonderful things they have to offer!! It's one of our favorite "short" trips to take, being only about a 5 hour drive. I spin, knit and plan to get back into sewing and embroidery soon. I just picked up my restored 1935-38 Singer machine today and can't wait to get started with a project, that being a baby doll for my almost 2 year old granddaughter:)

There is a great group of ladies on these forums so enjoy the wonderful company!!

Jan I think we were separated at birth.lolI too love to do all that stuff especially the cooking, singing and embroidery. I would love to see if possible how the paraments work out as that is also something that I would love to learn more about. I'm in Utah and we have some beautiful Catholic Church's here but some are in major need of a paraments update. So please let me know how you go. Kindest Regards,Marianna
