I haven't been online nearly as much as usual lately, been dealing with these ridiculously evil migraines. Luckily we seem to have finally gotten them under a bit of control!! But I was perusing the forum today and one farmgal in particular caught my eye, as she has made a LOT of posts in her years here LOL. For some reason I was curious how many posts I have made. Clicking on my profile, I saw that I joined the forum exactly one year ago! For some reason this made me very excited. We have grown SO much this past year, and are always welcoming great new farmgals into our midst. So a big warm welcome to all of you!!!!! It's a great group of gals here and there's something for everyone here. You will all enjoy your time here!

Happy Anniversary, Catherine! :) You are one farmgirl who always makes me smile! I'm glad you're able to be back online!
I am so sorry you've been dealing with those nasty headaches. I used to get horrible migraines, too. My eye doctor, of all people, recommended I start taking magnesium. I can't remember the dosage, to be totally honest, but I know he said that we need to take twice the RDA for our weight because our bodies only process half of it and the rest is wasted. I was absolutely AMAZED with the results when I started taking it! It worked! I mean it REALLY worked! I would NEVER recommend taking any type of supplement without consulting your doctor, of course, but if your doctor hasn't suggested you take magnesium, you might want to inquire as to his or her thoughts! At the very least, maybe try boosting your diet with more magnesium-rich foods. I couldn't BELIEVE what it did for me! I very rarely get headaches anymore - if ever! Praise GOD!
Well, I just thought I should share... Have a great day of celebrating being a Farmgirl, sister!
Hugs -
Nini

Nini, thanks for that info! It is something I will discuss with my doctor. I was having a nightmare of a time there for a while. My migraines have shifted in recent years and are more frequent as well as hormonally triggered, where they never were before. But lately, I couldn't put my finger on it but they were different. My primary was about to send me to a neurologist but his last attempt to figure it all out was something I had said in passing about sinus pressure ever since a bad cold I had in Dec......we have since decided that even though I didn't always feel it as sinus pressure, that my sinuses have been irritated and swollen. We are being more aggressive about treating my allergies. I am back on an antihistamine and gone up a bit in my nasal spray dosage but the thing is that the 2 week migraine I was having broke as soon as we did this, and I haven't had a headache in over a week! I hate taking drugs and such but if you need them, you need them. Like with my RA, not treating it is far more dangerous than the meds I take. I really had no quality of life there for almost 2 months. Since I was having such issues he might still sent me to a neurologist but at least the worse of it seems to have ended. Yippee! I do already have a follow-up scheduled and I will bring up the magnesium then. He did also mention feverfew supplements, but he wanted me to just do the allergy stuff first so we'd know what I was responding to exactly. But I think the feverfew is next, hoping to help through these hormonal transition years....Can't believe what all has piled up around here, though LOL. Catching up still on chores, mending, etc.

Happpy anniversary Catherine! Time flies doesn't it? What do you take for your RA? I have started Enbrel after 9 years on Methotrexate and Prednisone. After 10 weeks I am feeling like I don't even have RA anymore!!!!

That's great that you are feeling so much better, Diane! I am amazed at some of the stories I have heard of folk on the biologics, it can sometimes really turn the disease around. I am on a low dose of methotrexate. So far (3 years) that has been all I needed and I tolerate it well. Here's hoping it stays that way!

Happy anniversary from me too, so glad you are getting the migraines under control somewhat...they are a PAIN (no pun intended)
As an aside, where can you find when you joined? I tried finding it in my profile but didn't see it....just for fun :)

Thanks everyone!! It's been great getting to know all of you! I am sure we will have lots of fun in the coming year, too :)
Marian, I had to pull up my profile to see this again lol. There's a blue bar toward the top, with your screen name on the left and "Member Since" on the right.
