I would love to see a badge for starting & growing herbs...a badge for drying them, storing them ect....and a badge for making herbal things with those herbs such as herbal salves, bath products, ect.
I would also like to see a badge for harvest your food garden, badge for canning/freezing/drying it
I would like to see a badge for honoring ancesters/family...like doing something special for a past family member, like I have a memorial garden with a small pond, rose bush & sculptures in honor of my mother.
thank you Michele'

They all sound good to me too. We could just keep adding to the list....

I think that is a great idea, Michele! "Herbal wisdom" maybe? Just like the section on the forum?

I wonder if I may take the liberty in suggesting a few merit badge ideas:-
* "Tea for Two" - this could involve researching history and growth of tea, sampling various teas that you have never had before, making your own tea blend with dried herbs, hosting a "high tea".
* "Cup o' Joe" - Similarly, this could involve researching history and growth of the coffee plant, trying a coffee that you have never had before (think piccolo, affogato, cappuccino, macchiato, espresso, long black, short black, flat white), roasting and grinding your own beans, perfecting your barista skills and milk preparation, anyone for "Latte Art";
* Geocaching - researching what the goals are of geocaching and getting out in to nature to find some, planting your first travel bug, collecting all of the "Wonders of the World";
Happy for additional suggestions that could make these badges fun to achieve!

Oh Cindy, I like the geocaching one! That one would be lots of fun. Even to get the kids out and participating.

LOVE the tea idea!
I'm not sure what geocaching is - I'll have to look into it.

Cindy, we absolutely love your ideas for new Merit Badges. Coffee and tea? What's not to love about learning (and sampling) those two challenges?
And geocaching, yes! I recently came across one of my daughter's blog entries about she and her family out and about geocaching. Stella and Mia were so young! Made my heart ache to think about how grown-up they are now.

We'd already finalized our 2022 new Merit Badges, but your ideas will be top of MY list of endeavors for 2023:)
Stay tuned. Our 49-page Sister Issue containing our new Merit Badges will send out in the morning. In it, you'll be able to read all about our new 2022 Farmgirl Sister of the Year!

Thanks MaryJane! I look forward to seeing what the new merit badges entail. And, such a sweet article on geocaching. Wow, the girls really have grown since then. Happy New Year to you too!!

I would like to second Cindy's idea of a tea badge! And the coffee one to, for that matter. But especially the tea badge. My ideas for requirements run almost parallel with the addition of keeping a tea journal for tracking likes and dislikes.
