My only extra bedroom houses a full-sized bed that no one sleeps on. I've begged my husband to get rid of it so I can have "my" space for stuff. I've got a computer crammed in there and some book cases, but I'd love to have a drafting type table where I can sew and craft. Anyway, how would you recommend storing it so that it doesn't get dirty, damp, musty, and rodent eaten? We have a shop with an enclosed room - but wrap, don't wrap? Help? Maybe if I present the idea, this time he'll move it!

You could wrap it, but truthfully, if it is anywhere where a mouse wants to make a nest...they will chew through the wrapping. It would definatly need to be kept in an area where it wouldn't mold. But, I have family members who live in old, old farmhouses who just keep them up in the non-climate-controlled attics and they seem fine with it. I would say, the ideal situation would be to donate it to someone who can use it. Is there a family or friend who would be blessed with having a bed for their teen? Or a newly married couple? Or could you list it on CraigsList or Ebay? If it is donated, you could entice hubby with the tax write-off he could use then ... if that is possible...not too sure about that one;) My hubby has a hard time letting stuff go and I usually make the first move into finding someone or someplace to send it to....that sounds horrible, but honestly, it works for us becasue DH really doesn't have the time to find someone to take stuff, and when I do, he usually agrees..not always readily or agreeably, but we don't let it consume us. I hope you get your area for crafting...telling him how happy you will be to be able to spread out and have your own space maybe will help too. I have used the garage as an example of his space and how much happier he is out there with just his stuff. Good luck...let us know how it goes:) Erica

I have a sheet covering mine. That's more to keep the dust down when I need to use it. It helps the mattress stay cleaner.
