We just spent Fri. thru Sun. with 3 gds. (2 are 14, and 1 is 12) Grampa took them to a huge kite festival at the lake and then an Ice storm prevented us from going out more. So, out came the craft boxes! The girls are all artsy and very different, of course. They decorated T-shirts and aprons. Then I pulled out an old deck of cards and introduced them to ATCs. One made 15, one made 9, and one made 7 before the weekend was over. Movie nights in between. One of the girls considers herself a pro and colored gmas hair. It came out black, but she did get allllll the grey. :) They even cleaned up the mess. Sent them home with supplies. You've got to love a houseful of girls!

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Sounds like such fun! I live with 3 sisters, and though our emotions sometimes get the better of us :-), we love each other dearly. A houseful of girls is a very special thing! We bring out all sorts of crafts and eat popcorn and watch "chick-flicks" together on the weekends. I feel so blessed to have such sweet sisters! I am so glad that your granddaughters are learning timeless traditions from their grandma. That is so very precious. :-)

It sounds like you had a perfect week-end! Could you send me your three granddaughters for a weekend? (just kidding of course)

lol, Ginny! Actually, if you Thurs. nite I could have loaned you all 5 granddaughters and one grandson. It was one of those nights when they were all here for dinner. No school next day. I had a blast watching them from the kitchen. They usually are all together only on holidays. With no parents here..I saw another side to them..they were just delightful, and enjoying each other. The others are 21, and 2 17 yrs.

Sounds like a perfect weekend! Dr says I should maybe be finished having children(I have 4), I love the house full of kids, crafts, and laughter!! One day, with four kids, I'm hoping to be blessed with tons of grandbabies. I smiled through your whole post. How wonderful for you!!!(((hugs)))

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

I admire your courage! I have four grandaughters too, and have to rest up after they leave, I'm 54 years young and have MS. Fibro and Arthistus. I am considered handicapped but am VERY MOBILE......everyday I am on my feet I feel blessed.

What is an ATC? Shoebox craft?

When the grands are here we bake bread, I give them all there own dough to make cinammon rolls. We have fun, I have yet to get them to clean up to well though! They are 10 thru 16, well able to clean, but alas...they don't.

Cathy, no courage involved..I just haven't grown up! ha ha. I understand your need to rest after. (I have fibro and arthritis.) Dr. and I insist to describe this as "functional". That word helps get me up and moving. I am thankful for every day I'm up. When I'm not real active I notice I watch people more and listen to them more. Amazing. ATCs are artist trading cards. They are no larger or smaller than regular playing cards. They are decorated any way you wish. May be done as one or in a series. They are to be traded..collected..never sold. I consider all of my kids/grandkids artists. They sign everything they do. We even have the guest room walls designated as the "rouges gallery" where we display artwork from each of them.

Also, this is the first time the girls cleaned up really well. (I think they want to do this again) One even made her bed. ( I think she is enamored of all the throw pillows and likes to arrange them) :).

That's wonderful that the grandkids are baking! I can just imagine the yummy smells!
