For our Farmgirls who have signed up......

You can be having FUN already by looking over what tea or tea bags you are going to wish to send to your Farmgirl Swap Partner. This also includes an Irish Blessing as well. You can be looking over the previously posted IRISH BLESSINGS that I've been including for you along the way since this magical adventure begin! You may also choose an Irish blessing of your own selection as well.

"THE LUCK OF THE IRISH SWAP".......

You'll want to come visit here on Saturday or Sunday, March 5th or 6th to find your selected partner. The name of the Farmgirl that is paired up with you will be listed.

Then the next step is the same as many other swaps here at "MJF Farmgirl Connection." You'll each need to email each other and give your addresses to each other.

If you've already done your tea and Irish blessing selection as I am hoping is the case, you'll be ready to mail your selection right off once you get the address of your paired partner.

I'm hoping everyone is really going to mail off early as there's been lots of discussion about problems with the USPS mail. You'll want to mail your swap so that it arrives BEFORE or ON "St. Patrick's Day" with good cheer and good luck.

How about an IRISH SODA BREAD RECIPE for our Farmgirl Sisters who might like to add a recipe along with your tea and Irish blessing.....

Irish Soda Bread Recipe

Ingredients :
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar, plus additional for sprinkling on top
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup raisins
1 teaspoon caraway seed
1 egg
approximately 1/2 cup buttermilk (or soured milk)

Preparation :
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a bowl, mix together flour, salt, sugar, baking soda and baking powder. Cut in butter, then add raisins and caraway seed. Break egg into a measuring cup and add enough buttermilk to equal 3/4 cup. Add the egg mixture to the flour. Mix until blended and knead dough. Shape into one large or two small rounds. Make a cross on top with a knife and drizzle with melted butter. Sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake in a greased iron skillet, or on a greased cookie sheet, until golden (approximately 30 minutes).

Wow! I have always wanted to make Irish Soda Bread for St. Patrick's Day. I always fix Corn Beef, Cabbage, Onions, Potatoes and Carrots so the Soda Bread will certainly add to it.
I am having trouble making bread and layered cakes due to the fact that we live at 9000 ft. I have tried all the recommendations that are given for High Altitude baking but nothing I have done so far works. Any suggestions?
Thanks again for this I enjoy reading every morning and evening your newest prayer or Irish tidbits.

Farmgirl Hugs,
Debbie

Sign me up! I love tea and St. Patrick's Day!! Woo Hoo! I've been busy (too busy to see what's going on at MJF's chatroom) and kind of grumpy with work, muddy dogs, more work... Blech... But this made me smile. What a great idea - thank you for doing this!

Annette,

I'm having trouble following what you mean by .... "My daughter and I would like to swap this one too!"

Are you referring to our "LUCK OF THE IRISH TEA SWAP"? Who is signing up here? Sorry that I'm not really following you.
