I am looking for some books about homesteading, pioneer living, or anything along those lines. Those are my favorite kind of books, but I feel like I've read most of them. I'm sure there are lots of others out there that I haven't stumbled across yet. What are some of your favorites?

No Time on My Hands by Grace Snyder with Nellie Snyder Yost is a good one, true story by a woman whose family homesteaded in Nebraska - she went on to make fabulous, world-famous quilts in the mid 20th century. I just reread it.

Okay . . . well, I'm sure you've read "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" already? If not, it was really wonderful! I'll see if I can think of any others, I know I've read some but the titles are escaping me at present.

I have read it! Barbara Kingsolver has always been one of my favorite authors and "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" just solidified it. :)What a great book. I have actually been meaning to reread it soon.

Have you read The Good Life by Helen and Scott Nearing. They wrote a couple others too. I have a copy of the Good Life I got at a thrift store years ago - its fun to reread it from time to time - just for inspiration...

While these books aren't exactly about homesteading, they ARE about fixing up an ancient house and reworking the land...Francis Mayes' Tuscany books. Under the Tuscan Sun and Bella Tuscany are both wonderful for their descriptions of the land and her house as she works to make it all livable again. And the cultural differences are fascinating. It's also a memoir - fits you biographical call!!
