Would you rather be involved in a local chapter or in an online chapter? Is your answer based on free time you have? I'm just curious.

Both! I love the online chapters for socialization as my schedule allows and for increased frequency (everyday!) but the face to face chapters are priceless for more personal interation and spontaneaous fun and learning! It's also nice to know people in your area so you have a helping hand to rely on if you need it.
I like the idea of being able to check in to the forum on my time and get some info. There's no responsibility to it, no monthly meeting I need to attend (or worry about missing with my unusual schedule). On the other hand, a local chapter would be a great way to get to know people and resources in my area.
