The other day I was dreaming of starting some seeds, need a dose of fresh "stuff" right now!! LOL! Thought I would start a mini herb garden for my kitchen table. My problem is I need some type of mini green house to do this. I want to be thrifty, don't want to use plastic wrap if I can avoid it. . . so what to do? While mulling it over for days in my head, the solution was in my hands as I was emptying the trash. . . Plastic cups with the pop on lid!! Yup, you know the one's that you get if you buy your ice coffee at DD's??
So today I am starting my mini garden in my mini green house!! My DBB is going to think I'm nuts when he gets home from work. . .LOL!! He will just shake his head and smile.. I love him. . . we will have fresh herbs soon!!
The best part about this is the straw hole in the lid. . . it will allow the warmth to stay in, enough moisture to evaporate out and the lid can be removed all together when the time is right. . oh, the straw is now the plant stick. . with the name being written on them using a sharpie pen.
Okay, now it's your turn, what have you come up with for your mini green house??

What a great idea! I don't buy coffee cups with those lids. But I do have some plastic food containers with hinged lids that float through the house every now and again. I think I will use those!
Do what you love, love what you do. |

Okay, so I bought the little greenhouses from jiffy last year, but I'm glad I did because this year, all I needed was the peat pellets and I'm up and running again... not as creative, but I don't buy much coffee out anymore, so it'd take me forever to get enough to start my seeds... Love your idea tho, and it's a great way to re-purpose something like that.

I have an old fish tank that we bought at the thrift store. Have herbs in it as well as radishes and lettuce. i just use the light that came with it. it's awsome.
