I've been trying to think of ways to get more veggies into Violet's diet, and she's still in that picky phase, only we've added "no!" to that, as well
My father in law wondered about juicing. I thought it might be a good thing, especially since she is far more apt to drink than eat these days.
Does anyone have any recipes for juicers that are kid based?

Jonni- I think that is an excellent idea. I don't have any recipes because our juice is dead and gone :( But I know that V-8 has some veggie/fruit fusions that actually taste really good, so you could maybe see what blends they do and see if you could come up with your own mix. Carrots are always a good one because they are sweet.
Good Luck! I am going to be sitting down this week and re-evaluating our nutrition needs for the new year. I think we need more vitamins than we have been getting. And I want Nora to drink more milk

The juicer we have was bought at a yardsale, never used, still in the box (and with the gift card included). The yardsale was at the home of a local chef and apparently, they were clearing out 2nd wedding gifts. It was made in France, and I think, a pretty good juicer...
Violet currently drinks an organic blend that I buy at Baby's R Us with blueberries, purple carrots and apples. And one with spinach, apples and something else green....I'll have to see what those have in them!
Violet likes milk, but she certainly would choose juice over that...I do water her juice down, and we only drink juicy juice or Smartkids, but still..it's sugar.
Good luck to you, too. She's been getting better at what she eats, but it's still a struggle to get veges to her. This is a start :)

Juicing for your child is a GREAT idea. I have been juicing for my 8 yr old for years now, once a day at least. The best part is if I start with the basic couple of carrots and an apple I can add just about anything I want and she never know... like greens, veggies, and even ginger.
There is an old book... i used to have called "Juicing for Life" that got me started.

That's so good to know! I just thought, "well, it's a start." And I think she'll drink just about anything, based on what she consumes at home. Even Elderflower drink when we were at Ikea...
I thought, if I could get her to drink at least one juice per day, we'd be on a good program. She is eating a little better, but still won't just sit down and eat a carrot or a plate of green beans.

I had a juicer in my cart at Walmart the other day, but then felt guilty so I put it back. I thought Rosemary would do better at getting some veggies if I masked it in fruity juice. You'll have to let me know how it goes!

Nora really likes fruits and veggies- but we seem to get in ruts at our house and then sometimes she doesn't want to eat at all. Lately she has been eating a lot. Usually she eats her dinner and half of mine but seems to go light on breakfast and lunch but snacks inbetween. Crazy kids!

I will, Elizabeth. I'm making my list for the grocery this evening (I did find some recipes on line for the juicer) and I'll give it a go ahead this weekend, when I have a little more experimenting time.
You're lucky, Alee. Violet likes fruit, sometimes--seems to be a texture issue with her, so I end up with those Plum Natural's squeezable fruit purees, which she will eat. I will agree that she's eating quite a bit more. Must be that "winter time" appetite coming through for both Nora and Violet! Violet seems to eat a fair amount of breakfast, little to no lunch, then a nice dinner. We've cut out much of her snacks because, well, she'd turn into an Annie's Cheddar Bunny if I let her.

I think it's goin around! Martha has nearly eatten everything in sight today!
I used to have a juicer. My girls loved a juice blend of carrots, grapes, and apples. It was really good, but looked really gross. They juiced about everything and that was the one they kept comin back to. They burned up the juicer years ago.
Google juicer recipes and you'll be overwhelmed with combonations. That's what we did!

Well I went and bought a cheapy juicer this weekend, and I will say I will probably wear this one out and have to upgrade! I went to Aldi and bought a bunch of produce (since that is the cheapest place around here) and have been trying all sorts of combinations! Cranberry/ orange/ lime is awesome.
