Our town is big on neighbor gifts...really fun too! The whole week before Christmas we get people knocking on doors bringing over cute sweet and savory gifts...so fun! One neighbor brought over a jar of home canned pickle relish with a tag that says "We relish your friendship" isn't that so clever??? Today already we have had several neighbors stop by...we are delivering our cheeseballs tonight and tomorrow.
Does your area do neighbor gifts? I guess where I grew up we did them a little..just a few..but here it is a big deal..and FUN!!

Our neighborhood generally gifts food, usually cookies at Christmas. Usually just the neighbors that we know and the ones that live right next door and across the street. We do it at Christmas, and when we all have lots of fruit, veggies and flowers in the summer, and after canning.

Mona is doing great. She loves her little Dexter steer pal Stewie and has the two sheep to romp with. Snow isn't her favorite..but since it isn't snowing today she is very happy. I saved back a few pumpkins for special treats for her and plan to take one out to her at lunch time. She loves pumpkins and fresh tomatoes alot....so that is her treats when I have them.

That sounds like great fun. My one neighbor will always bring something over on Christmas Eve usually food related and then on Christmas morning I always take him over a breakfast casserole.

Had the best time tonight. It is midnight and I just cleaned up the mess of making "neighbor gifts" to pass out tomorrow. Red plates are crammed full of "Jum-Jills", Almond Crescents, Rocky Road Candy and Butter Spritz cookies made with a cookie press into Christmas trees and wreaths, sprinkled with colored sugar and stars. Started around 6 this evening and made all the stuff and packed it. Can't wait to head out to pass them out tomorrow! Merry Christmas! :-)

We make neighbor, family, and friend cookie plates, but unfortunately we haven't made it out to pass them all out. Things just got too busy. I hate that too b/c by the time we get our plates to the recipients, they're tired of goodies. Sigh. Oh well, its the thought that counts. Right!? We'll call them New Year's plate. ;)

What fun!! My next closest neighbors, not including my Dad, are three miles away. After that, they are a long way away!! I do make things to give to the neighbors at Christmas time though. I also make things for them for random things: grading the road so that we can get out when it has drifted shut, letting us cut a Christmas tree in his pasture where he has pine trees (we don't), birthdays, I cooked too much!!, just things like that. But I really live in the boonies so it's fun to share when there is plenty to go around!
