I have an egg plant that has about 20 blossoms on it. It is suppose to get aroud 26 degrees tonight here in Central Florida. Are egg plants hardy to the cold weather? Not sure what I should do. It is a big beautiful plant in a big pot and I can not move it. It is against the house. I am not use to this kind of cold weather. I am not sure if I should cover it or not. Would that even save it?
Cover it, for sure. But I'm afraid 26 degrees may kill it even with protection. Use something fairly heavy, not just plastic. I'd cover with a 5gallon bucket, then a heavy blanket over that. It all depends on how long it stays down there in the 20's. Good luck with it.

Are you still in the 20s or does your eggplant have a chance of survival? What a shame it would be to lose a plant with so many blossoms. What crazy weather, huh.
My son came by late last night with a friend. I was headed out the back door when they arrived with my blankets for the egg plant. So they voluntered to drag the pot on to my back porch which is fully enclosed so all is not lost my egg plant has survived. Thanks so much for your advice. I was looking at it this morning and there was a little bee clinging to one of its leaves so I left him alone hoping he would pollinate it. I am so hoping to get some egg plants to eat from it.
