Those are waves crashing over the break wall-

These were taken today-yesterday there wasn't a smidge of snow-but now the bay is filling up fast with ice! Looks FRIGID huh?

I never get used to seeing this-

Melody,
Thanks for posting those photos they are amazing! I don't think we are supposed to get used to such beauty, but are supposed to let our chin drop in wonder when we see such a sight

Such beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing. But, I have to admit that I'm glad to be in Texas. A little cool today, but we'll be back up to 70 by Wednesday

Melody, I was trying to fiqure out where the Great North Woods in the land of Hiawatha was.
But come to find out The Great North Woods run all the way From vermont, New York, New Hampshire,
and Maine. Which State are you located in? I am guessing Maine because of the Bay. And camp Hiawatha is located in Maine. Am I right?

Nope...Dorinda,

The UP of Michigan! Early on it encompassed the greatest land area for logging at the turn of the century hence "The great north woods."

We live on the border of Michigan and Wisconsin and you are looking at the Bay of Green Bay-Lake Michigan about 2 blocks from our home (a 100-year old plus victorian) that we restored. It was built by a young man who drove Mr. Spies carriage at the turn of the century. Mr. Spies was one of the founding fathers in our little town who made his fortune in the logging business-Pine was King then!

And the land of Hiawatha is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan along the shores of Lake Superior, aka Gitchigami from the famous poem by Longfellow "The Song of Hiawatha"-Gitchigami means Big Water in Ojibway---

Wow Melody, Was I way off or what? Thanks so much for clearing that up for me. I had Goggled the Great North Woods and that is what came up. That the Great North Woods was spread out across those 4 States and on up into Canada. Boy were they ever wrong!!
