Connie just read - NO aspirin.. What you need to do is get warm Molasses and water in here. Get her up and moving if possible. Make sure that she has a clear airway and that you have blood flow to her legs. That twisting of the neck if is not from the position she was in is when they body is shuting down - we call it the death curl. It seems that many animals when their internal organs are shuting down will natural curl into that position. Also make sure that her pupils react to light. If you can get her to drink on her own that is great but if not then slowly get the fluid down her with a tube. Keep her warm, blankets, heater whatever you have to do - ruments need to keep themselves warm or their stomachs will also shut down and there is no coming back on that....

Keep us in the loop and I will be praying for her recovery.

i dont know what we woul ddo without grace a kristens knowledge. sadly racheal didnt make it. we couldnt get her on her feet after the first hour or so. we kept her warm and turned her over so that the downside wouldnt get too cold but she started acting as tho she was in a lot of pain so we put her down. it breaks my heart! i am about ready to just get rid of all of them. i have her 2 babies and a billie. the babies are just over a year old and ready to breed but 'tother is totally untouchable but stripper is kinda sweet just a little skittish. i just dont know if i can go thru this again. this is the second goat we had to put down in the last 6 months. its just too heartbreaking! i really wanted the milk and racheals was the BEST ever, but is it worth it? i never realized that goats were so fragile compared to say cows and chickens. right now it just hurts to bad. i will let yo know what i decide. thank you all for the help and prayers. peace connie in alaska

Connie,
I'm so sorry for your loss and your heartbreak. It is very difficult to have to put down an animal, but obviously you did the right thing. Hope you begin to feel better soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to put your goat down. It is never an easy decision to put a loved animal down. My heart goes out to you and I hope that you are comforted that she is no longer suffering. Sending wishes for peace and comfort to you.

OH Connie I am so sorry!

Sherrye is right, give yourself some time to feel your feelings and know that these things seem to come in waves. Over the years I too have experienced more lose then I thought I could handle. At the time I just thought "No More" and then a small and wonderful miracle with an animal happens, or a special birth that you where able to assist in, or just the joy of sitting with the four legged family members and looking into their eyes and they connecting to you and suddenly you know you can go on. My heart aches for you and your loss and just know we are here for you, cry with you and will support whatever you decide is best for you and your family.

Hugs, Love and Blessings

Connie, I am so sorry. I so agree with all the others. It seems like this is the worst thing that could ever happen. But then something wonderful happens and makes it so much easier to go on. That's just life. I just want you to know we are all here for you. We have lots of shoulders. We have all been in the same place you are right now at one time or another. It's sad. But we have to get right back up and keep going.

Lots of hugs coming your way.

Kris

Connie I am so sorry for your loss. I went through it with one of my sheep last spring - it's so hard to feel like you couldn't do enough to save them. It's a heart break when it happens but I couldn't imagine my life with out my four legged family. You did all you could. What ever decision you make will be the right one for you.

Blessings, Sheri

I'm sorry to learn this, this morning. You did what you could do for her, and in the end, you also did what you could do for her. Again, I say, Grace is a wise woman--listen to her, listen to your feelings and allow yourself to mourn. There will be again, little miracles and blessings.
So sorry for your loss.

Hi Connie, ((Hugs))! You are such a sweet and special lady and the way you love your animals is amazing!
Please be sure to spend lots of time with her barn buddy so he doesn't get depressed. Maybe make him his favorite treat or something like that. Let him know that he is not alone in this. You can both get through this together!
Hugs!
