Hi there!

Looking for a great gift for a friend? Check out my Kitchen Witches, they have a mischievous side to them :).

Taken from my site:
"The Kitchen Witch is the good witch, making the kitchen a warm, cozy, and comfortable place to be in. She performs wonderful magic that tricks the bad witch, who is full of mischief . Therefore, the bad witch looses her power to mess with and ruin your cooking. According to legend, cakes, breads, and other pastries will rise according to recipes. Milk will not sour or spoil. Cooking pots won't boil over. Toast, potatoes, and rice won't burn. Spices you mix will be perfect, as well as the tea and coffee you serve. Since the kitchen is the "heart" of the home, she will keep ill wishes from your entire home.

My Kitchen Witches have a little mischief of their own, and will make you laugh as they fly around in your kitchen."

You can see more at

Greetings,
Heike

OH those bring back memories. My mother used to make lots of kitchen witches to give away when I was small. They were pretty, with a black hat, cape, dress and broom. She gave them all away so I don't have one unfortunately. Would have liked it if she had kept just one for herself too lol.

Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)

Guten Tag Marian!

I grew up in Germany, so not so far away :).

I must tell you that my Kitchen Witches have become a favorite gift for my friends :)...the lore has it that they have even more good magic for the kitchen if they were given as a gift! So there you go, you mother was spreading the love.

Greetings,
Heike

LOL, Diana :),

they are such a wonderful energy, they make me laugh even when I make them.

I will be putting some on my etsy store at http://www.etsy.com/goddessinthegroove in the next few days so they can go out in time for Christmas. I can't take any more custom orders now, but the ones I am making are so diverse, I am sure the right one will be there. They each have a name and come with a little tag that states the KitchenWitch lore :).

Greetings,
Heike

Oooh, I have a story about kitchen witches! When I was a very little girl, my grandmother had a kitchen witch that hung over her sink. Her's was the ugly, hag-type, not cute like yours. But, to keep me busy and out of the way when she was cooking, she used to let me sit on the drainboard with a long-handled wooden spoon and try to hit the witch. It was guaranteed to keep me busy all afternoon.
One day the family went out to a restaurant to eat, and the table behind us was full of nuns. I saw them and immediately shouted, "You ol' nasty witch, I hit you with my spoon!" and threw my silverware at them.
After that, no more hitting kitchen witches with spoons. Instead, I was to play quietly with the Infant of Prague as a baby doll!
This was the kind of witch Grandma had. If I remember correctly, she had hooks for hands that really gave me the heebie-jeebies.

JessieMae,

that is hilarious! Just fabulous!! :)
The picture is a very traditional kitchen witch, the kind I know from childhood, too. Mine are a bit more mischievious, lol.

Thank you for sharing. I would love to include your story when I redo the kitchen witch page on my site, would you be ok with that?

Greetings,
Heike
