I have lost my recipe for hot cocoa mix! I have always guearded it with my life. I only make it once a year as it makes a huge batch (I make it in my biggest roaster!) you add it to hot water, and it was rich and thick and creamy. And please if anyone has this recipe (I have tried Googling and haven't found it yet... let me know before I have to resort to Swiss Miss Thanks inadvance for any help!

Here is mine!
Hot Cocoa Mix

1 1/2 c sugar
1 c instant non fat dry milk powder
1 c non dairy coffee creamer
3/4 c Nestles quick

I usually make a batch 6 x the recipe & mix it in my big Tupperware bowl. Lasts most of the winter! Yummy!
I hope this helps!

This simple recipe makes a very large batch that will last most families the entire winter long.
Ingredients for Homemade Cocoa Mix

* One 25.6oz box of instant nonfat dry milk
* One large container of Nestle Quick (chocolate milk flavor)
* One pound powdered sugar
* 8oz powdered creamer
* 1 tablespoon salt
* 2 cups cocoa powder

Directions

1. Simply mix all of the ingredients together in a very large bowl. Divide into more bowls if a large enough bowl isn't available. This recipe makes an extremely large batch, but it's worth the trouble! A large, lidded bowl like the 26 cup capacity Tupperware Fix-n-mix bowl is ideal. Instead of stirring with a spoon, one can simply throw all the ingredients in the bowl, attach the lid tightly, and shake until everything is evenly mixed.
2. Fill one third of a mug with the cocoa mix in its powdered form, then fill the rest of the mug with hot water. Even using water, this cocoa is incredibly rich and delicious, but for a truly decadent experience, mix hot milk into the powder.

This is per cup so you would want to expand it out. I use honey or brown sugar for different flavors.

1 heaping teaspoon premium Cocoa Powder (baking)
2 heaping teaspoons sugar
1 cup milk.

Stir, and heat. Enjoy! All natural!

Thanks for the recipes everyone. I know the one I had, had malted milk powder in it. Maybe I will have to experiment. The recipe I had lasted all winter too, unless I gave it as gifts, then I would have to make two batches.

MsSadie, that looks pretty darn close, with a few additions such as
salt and chocolate pudding, it may work. You would think after all these years of making it I would have it memorized, but since I make it only once a year...the memory is just not what it used to be.

Thanks again!

Thanks everyone for sharing your recipes and taking the time to search.

Here is the mix I have made for years:

1 box powdered milk (8 qt size) approx 10 1/2 cups
7 c. coffee creamer
1 1/2 cups cocoa powder
3 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt

Use about 1/3 cup mix for a mug.

Hope that helps. Sometimes I add powdered vanilla from Watkins.

Blessings, Sheri

Hot cocoa not from a mix:
1 T sugar
1.5 t cocoa
1 t water
1 c milk

Combine sugar, cocoa, and water in saucepan. Heat, stirring, until they incorporate and bubble. Add milk, first stirring in a little and then adding the rest (if you add it all at once without stirring, the chocolate will lump) and heat until steaming.
