By jove, I think I got it. I didn't wait long enough for it to upload. Let's see if you can see Nosey the deer. Still not the one of Nosey and the hat, but the one coming up to me.

Alee, this was a wild deer in mid WA state after backpacking in 14 miles in. we were there a wek, and only saw a forest ranger. Nosey (as we named her that week) was totally wild & had several remarkable scars on her flank, so we knew who it was through the week. The first time I met her, I was sitting on an outdoor privy (had dropped my pack & Dan was in the distance). Heard rustling. Thought it might be a bear. Almost scared me to death. As I sat there, in God's nature, she walked up to me about 3 feet away & started eating grass. Couldn't call Dan or grab a camera, but she finally moved off. Saw her and other does each day around our base camp. The day we played in the field, the marmots were making their noise and we had been going to hike up Flower Dome. We found it much more interesting to watch Nosey run & grab Dan's hat and come up to me. She was a little more distant with Dan. The other doe nibbled grass in the area. She moved off after about 30 min. I can't tell you how she gladdened our hearts. When we left, I was sorry, because within 2 weeks it would be hunting season by horse back in the area, and I was afraid for her. May God have all our animals in heaven to meet us one day.

this is a portrait of me and my dh country that our granddaughter drew of us.

if a pic is worth a 1,000 words, well this drawing tells even more of the story. i am a little taller than pawpaw, and i look like i am tapping my foot. i think we both look pretty good here, all things considered.

So, I am a volunteer at the Pasadena TX Rodeo Barbeque cookoff and here are some images of what a cookoff looks like Texas style - the smoke is from the pits and the geese and bees were visitors.

And there were LOTS of people there . . .

The proceeds from the cookoff go to a scholarship fund for local high school students.

This is my father in law. Isn't he handsome. He is 91 and I love to hear his stories about how he and his family came from Kansas in a covered wagon to Colorado Springs. We even went out to the old Porter farm where he grew up. I gave him this hat and he loved it.

Thought I'd share some photos from 1955. First one is of my mom (second from left) with all of her children, I'm the shortest one in front (dad was taking the photo). Second one is of my little sister with me.
Thanks!

Looking so forward to our annual trip to the mountains for our Christmas tree in just another week or so. Here is a picture of our son, Will, bringing home last year's tree.

We are told that in Eastern WA state, we will have a snowy winter like we did 2008-09. We had over 5 feet of snow on the flat. Had an ice freeze all snow to buildings at Christmas time 2008, so that the snow wouldn't even slide off metal roofs. Alot of collapses. Praying our winter isn't like that. :0(

OK, so been looking for more photos to share. Here are some funky mushrooms that grew last year after a huge amount of rain:

Some that were growing in the horse's stall:

My special kitty Jasmine:

The Fred Hartman Suspension Bridge over the Houston Ship Channel from a distance and from underneath:

and my sister's horse Dunbar visiting the rest of the family in the back yard:

I just love to take all different kinds of photos. I got a new camera about 18 months ago and already have over 7000 photos! Thanks for letting me share!

SO. . . .I did the photo upload on here easily, but when I tried to do it on a "start a new topic" it didn't work for me--had to do the photobucket thing instead. Any hints? Thanks!

Thought I'd give this a try. Seems to work pretty easy.
Had a little trouble resizing but I think I have it figured out.
