Another one bites the dust . . .
Eunice has always been reliable. However, today, she quit running while driving down the highway with my foot on the gas. Eunice is our Buick (the kids named "her").
Everything stopped, and nothing worked, including the brakes. Thankfully, I coasted to the side of the road (with several frantic sounding prayers). Safely. Phew!
Instead of sitting here filled with worry and fear (as our van is already broken down, so this makes 2 vehicles down and two of the kids both work) I thanked the Lord for having my son home, with his 1994 Duster, to come rescue me (who thankfully wasn't going to work yet). I am also thankful that I remembered my cell phone, and that my son answered his cell phone, and that he has one too.
The devil keeps trying to stomp on us, but I'm not caving in. If Eunice is done for, I'll just have to pull on some thermals and ride my bike to the gym. I'm not lettin' nothin' stop us now. We are healthier, getting over sickness, and back to working out. It seems like there is always some tragedy that prevents us. Not this time.
I called hubby and we are not sure if it's a quick fix or not. We popped the hood (ds and I) and could not figure it out. We did not try to jump it. I guess I'll know more later tonight.
I am also thankful that my dd does not work tonight, because ds is heading to work in an hour or so. She is going to Homecoming, but I am sure we can get her a ride from a friend. I am thankful for her friends and their cars and their parents cars.
The devil is just gonna have to find new stomping grounds elsewhere.

Quick update... Eunice is up and running - here is where I laugh at myself. The whole time it happened my instincts kept going back to the car battery. We had no tools with us, but when dh got home we drove over to it. We popped the hood. He jiggled the battery cables. He tightened one. It started right up. Dh gave me the "duh" speech and we laughed. However, my Dad has always told me that my instincts were right on target, and he's right. Now I know to check my cables, put a tool in the glove compartment, and it won't happen to me again. Phew! Easy fix. However, I am glad it happened. Because it did happen, dh looked under the car when we got it home and saw that the exhaust was about to fall off. He most likely would not have taken the time to look under it if this didn't happen to me. He's out fixing it at his niece's house (her hubby always helps us with car repairs, so I am every so thankful for him and often treat him and his family with canned jams and jellies).
Oh...and we did get to the gym both yesterday and today. In fact, dh worked me so hard, it hurts to lift my arms when I crochet. I'm doctoring myself with sage tea today - ha ha ha!
Oh, and one more thing. When dd 17 yo got home from school, she immediately asked in a panic, "where's the car?!!!"
After I explained, she went into a tizzy and paced and paced, and texted and called, trying to get a ride to the bank, so she could pay boarding fees and have money for homecoming. She kept saying "Why does God hate me so much?" etc. etc. Then, we were talking and I said, how about calling "M" to drive you? She practically jumped out of her chair then this friend would, and did drive her, and dd paid her for gas. Plus this girl also drove her to the game and homecoming.
The funny part is, is that after she got off the phone, asking this friend for help, she screamed "Thank you God!" I think she then realized her tizzy talk and how it surely didn't help solve her problem. She doesn't know that I already thanked God for her friends and their cars prior to her even getting home. Yay God!

2 Chronicles 7:14 New International Version (NIV)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
I posted this because I have heard the news the last several days, about the massacre in Syria, but maybe even more meaningful...Israel is on the brink of attacking Iran because of nuclear weapons. Iran says that it will be harder on the US than any other country. We have the opportunity as Christians to bring our prayers for our country and its people to the throne room of God. We can pray that Iran will give up its persuance of nuclear war and that war can be averted. We can pray for our President (regardless of your party) to lead us, for our military and for those in the world who make decisions concerning all of us. May you have a blessed weekend.

This is my Angel Baby or little Butterfly...Miss Naomi I thought this picture went well with a quote I wanted to share: I have collected quotes all my life. As CJ is putting scripture down everyday for us (which I adore)and eat up. I thought I would try to do an inspirational quote. I call these Soul Food From Peggy "Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but if you will sit down quietly, it may light upon you." ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne ~

Ladies, Thank you all for your sweet thoughts and prayers!
I love the scriptures shared. As world and out news show more and more the state of things, it is for certain time for us to 'humble ourselves and pray, pray, pray'!!!
So thankful for my farmgirl sisters in Christ.
Blessings, Linda www.scatteredlittleblessings.blogspot.com

Thank you for that quote this morning CJ. I lived by saying that everyday when I was living in a terrible situation. It brings back how God got me over turmoil and instilled in my heart that God does live in me through His Holy Spirit. It is sooo good to read it again. Blessings Lady!

Hi Girls!
Oh my, Peggy - WHAT a beautiful baby! Those big blue eyes and rosy red cheeks - Oh! What a cherub!!! Precious, simple joy for our eyes AND hearts!
Happy Birthday to you tomorrow, Lea!!! YAY!!!!
'Glad Eunice is still plugging along, Kristina! YAY!
All is well here, praise the LORD!!!!
CJ - that is one of my most favorite Scriptures - one that I often find myself pressing into. One we should NEVER forget!
Speaking of never forgetting -
2 Thessalonians 2:15 "So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter."
And
Titus 1:9 "He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it."
So many times I have been reminded how important this truly is, haven't you? I lean heavily on His Word every single day!
Do you all spend a lot of time memorizing Scripture, or is it more that Scripture comes to you and stands out to you when you're reading the Bible or have been praying about something in particular? I do memorize Scripture, but it's different for me every time. Sometimes I memorize Scripture just for the sake of memorization. Other times, a Scripture "speaks" to me, and my heart is compelled to memorize it and hold it close within. Sometimes, I just remember the story and then refer back to the Scripture to help me in a situation. Other times the Holy Spirit will quicken Scripture to me, either when reading the Bible or praying about a situation - sometimes even unexpectedly through a passing conversation with a stranger! And sometimes when I read the Bible, Scriptures will just pop out at me suddenly... I may have read the same passage twenty times, and "know" the Scripture well, but suddenly when I read it for the twenty-first time, something strikes a chord and for me it has a completely new meaning. I love moments like that - when He speaks to us through His Word. I love how He is so mindful of us, and how He draws us closer to His heart like that, don't you?
Have a blessed weekend, girls!
Hugs -
Nini
