The day was as perfect as it gets for an October day in the Michigan countryside. Sunshine, warm breeze and the beautiful reds, yellows and oranges of the changing trees were pleasing to the senses. The guests arrived, a mingle of family, friends and the congregation. The bride happens to be the pastor's daughter. The decorations simple and perfect. Lit candles flickered on the shelves at each window inside the sanctuary and white twinkle lights wrapped with lace lined the aisle. Each wrote their own vows. He promised to be imperfect. She promised to love him still. As Jesus humbly washed the feet of his disciples, the bride and groom did the same, symbolizing their humbling spirits to serve one another as husband and wife. The ceremony wrapped up with Pastor allowing the groom to kiss his daughter, the bride. By the time we walked outside for the reception, the sun was down and the moon was but a sliver. The cool, sweet country air enhanced the energy of the night. Mason jars with candles illuminated the walkway to the canopies. The white twinkle lights that gave just enough light under the canopies were romantic but still paled in comparison to the stars that filled the night sky. At each table was a mason jar of grape juice and a loaf of fresh, homemade bread to be served for Communion. So much love, joy and laughter filled the air at the tiny church that is in the middle of almost nowhere, on the edge of a farmer's field. What an extraordinary evening, a perfect Sunday wedding.

Sounds like a good opening chapter to a book.

Days here in NC have been unseasonably warm and the leaves are still mostly green.

It was a high of 85. Perfect for those of us (my husband included) who want summer to linger just a bit longer

Hope you were able to take some good photos to capture the moments

Lovely!!! Congrats to the new couple! We also attended a wedding yesterday (Sunday), and though it was a celebration of love, it was not nearly as put together as you described (a JP who wore--I'm not fibbing--a t-shirt with a kitten and a glittery rainbow, before she put on her "graduation" robe), and a one-eyed pug who pottied behind the bride and groom during their vows and ran in and out of the small gathering of well wishers, much to the delight of my squealing 19 month old....

Lyn, I felt like I was there. Such a beautiful wedding. You need to write a book now. I know that couple will be happy.

Oh what a beautiful wedding that must of been. Your description was as good as any writer's could ever be. Jonni you had me laughing so hard!! I could just picture that pug peeing behind the bride and groom! OMG and the JP with the glittering kitten t-shirt and graduation robe. Oh well, honey, I guess it's the thoughts that count right. But, I truly would of lost it when the dog peed!!

Lyn's wedding story sounds so beautiful!

Mary Jane, we DID laugh...and laugh. Which felt wrong, somehow, but then again, what are you going to do when this one-eyed snorting little thing goes right behind the bride and groom and squats?!? And then the JP proceeded to tell us how many "lives" this dog has had since she got her as the runt of the litter--the father of the litter tried to eat her, she was run over by a tractor, she fell off the wall because of her depth perception issue missing an eye (and all...)...it just went on and on! The shirt and robe--oh my goodness. What a sight! It was a VERY strange day, indeed....Lyn's wedding was such a lovely reprieve :)
