I would really like to get a bread machine. I'd prefer one that makes "regular" loaf style. I would LOVE and so appreciate some feedback on what kind of breadmaker you have. What you love about it. What you'd rather have. Features that are important or not. Do you use your own recipes. Do you use premade mixes.

I just don't have time to make a big batch of bread every other day or so. The guys are taking lunches daily and daughter cannot have bread with milk. Therefore... our bread bill is killing my grocery budget! Besides all the "stuff" in it.

I thought I could throw in a loaf before I head for work or when I get home every day or so and save a bundle, plus have it be healthier.

THoughts? Opinions? Farmgirl consumer reporting..... =)

Do what you love, love what you do.

I don't use a bread machine. I use the no knead bread recipes in the book "Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day". You make up big batches of dough and it goes in the fridge. When you want a loaf, you take a chunk out, let it rest for 20 minutes and then bake it. It is awesome! I do all our bread this way. You should check out that book!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Love Love Love my bread machine. I get all my recipes from Allrecipes.com

You know what is in it and it costs change per loaf. Get one that does at least a pound and a half loaf.

Wow, there are SOOO many bread makers on the market! I have a plain ole' Sunbeam that I bought at Wally World for less than $50. I don't know how it bakes though, I only ever use the dough cycle and take it out and shape and do the final rise and baking by hand. Maybe you could Google "bread machine comparisons" and see what comes up.

I know you said you wanted a bread maker. I just wanted to share a great bread recipe. I got this from mother earth news and it's rustic bread for soup or to dip into a bowl of beans. It's super easy but very hearty bread. But it's so simple and I make it all the time. There's an article that goes along with it. Just mix all the ingredients together, let rise for about 2 hours and then cook at 375 until golden brown (about 20-30 min). I just made some cinnamon raisin with this recipe that I love. This might work until you get your machine.

I do both. I bake bread from a breadmachine recipe, and then knead it myself and let it rise by itself before baking in the oven. But I also love my bread machine when I want a quick loaf. I have a machine that bakes a horizontal, regular loaf. It is a Breadman, and cost about 50.00 at Target about two years ago. I love doing bread both ways; I just decide how much time I have when I need bread.

I love the recipes. I do make big batches of bread. But I am looking into the machine for the quick loaf when I don't have time to do big batches. It doesn't sound like there's a huge preference one over another. I think I will have to do some shopping around. =)

Reina thanks for the link to Mother Earth News Bread article. Plan to try to make bread with this easy recipe. Since the weather has been more tolerable and pleasant I will try this in the morning!
