We have a party to go to the night before Halloween (well, my husband actually plays in the band that's entertaining at the party) but it's in an old barn at Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. I'm looking forward to it, but the last time, I was pregnant and it was COLD and I didn't bother dressing up. This time I want to...
Any ideas? I'm trying to think of things that make me laugh right now...and I keep coming up with "Flo" from the Progressive Insurance Commercials. We both have the same brown hair, anyway :)

Jonni, My favorite.. Tonya Harding. I put on a skating dress, my skates, a jean jacket with some homemade rough looking patches,(one said "Sit on this Nancy!!" )pulled my hair in a big tight ponytail, put on a bunch of bad makeup, Lee press on nails, chewed bubblegum, & carried a big metal pipe.
If that suits youo, let me know, you could borrow my skates & dress(you would fit in it...me NO WAY)
I could bring it to Burlington. Of course, Tonya, was a blonde, but maybe some temporary color????

We use to do a haunted house every year in the Girl Scout barn. We had a lady once dress up as the grim reaper but instead of a sickle she carried a much rack. Being that it is in a barn you could go as a scare crow.

/when I need a halloween costume, I dig down in my drawer and pull out my chefs hat and my apron. I pretend I'm the Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show. Another of my two favorites are an organ grinder man and I go as the monkey or we also went as a butterfly catcher and I was the butterfly.

This year I'll be Frankensteins Bride. I've left my hair go grey and it will work JUST RIGHT.
I am going to wear a big ol' dress, do the makeup and just be thrilled. If I can get my husband to
be Frankenstein that will ROCK our Halloween Party.
We are inviting 20-30 (including babes in arms to teens in jeans- those dasterdly NON-DRESSER-UPPERS!).

You could always go for some nostalgia. You could go as a little old lady. Maybe a big house dress, fuzzy slippers, blue/silver hair, fluffy bathrobe, maybe some hair rollers. It's sure comfy if nothing else. :) You could even add some nice big padding under your housecoat for that extra "fluff" that comes with older ages. :)

I've not decided what I am going as yet. Hubby and I want to go matching and we saw Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, but I'm not sure yet. ;)We were thinking maybe the Cat in Hat and the kids as Thing 1 and Thing 1 with Baby as his goldfish ;)

We are invited to a halloween party this year. I think Fredrik is going to wear a wool cap with dreadlocks coming out from it and I'm going to look for some tie-dye shirts. I might do the same or find some hippie stuff to wear.

I'm going to be the Grinch this year. Just getting home from vacation and no time to plan and besides there are so many kids thata invade our neighborhood that don't live here. Makes it difficult to plan. I get very grumpy this time of year.

I just bought the best witch hat. It is bright pink with a feather boa type thing around the brim, the funny thing is I have a boa that matches! I'm going to dress up as a glam witch

I teach at a middle school, and I dress up every year with the students! Some of my costumes:
This year: I'm going as a farmer!  My overalls, boots, farmhat, and bandana. Easy!
Past years: Honey bee: black skirt, yellow shirt, and bought some antennas and black & yellow striped stockings!
Witch: black skirt and top, bought a pointed hat.
Scarcrow: stiched some raffia so it was sticking out of the ends of a plaid shirt, old jeans, and old hat. rope as a belt, and some raffia sticking out of holes in the shirt!

A few years ago I made a cheap, last-minute costume that has become my old standby. I used iron-on letters to spell my name on a plain white sweatshirt and put on my old Mickey Mouse ears beanie, jeans, and tennis shoes, and went as a Mouseketeer. Most of the kids didn't know what I was, but at least the old folks recognized me!

Great ideas, great costumes!!!
I think I've figured mine out....I'm going as Medusa! I have a bunch of little rubber snakes (I can't remember why, so don't ask :)) and I'm going to braid my hair in a Grecian style and thread the snakes through. I looked on line yesterday about how to make a "grecian style" robe and found a video tutorial using a bed sheet, some costume jewelry for shoulder brooches and some belting that can be found at the fabric store and whammo--I'm Medusa! This way I won't have to come up with much $$$$ and I already have everything but the costume brooches. Going to the thrift for those on my lunch hour.

I will probably go as a--wait for it-------horse back rider!! Ta-da! I already have all the stuff, down to the manure on the boot soles. Well dried, of course. One must be authentic. But I don't think that I will wear my chinks. I did last year and they got heavy. When I wear them riding, of course, I am sitting down and the weight isn't noticeable.

I am dressing up as Dorothy, I already had a blue dress that isn't quite right but good enough and I had white tights and I found the BEST ruby red slippers that are actually very high heels. So fun! My hubby is planning on the scarecrow and our two girls will be flying monkeys (their monkey costumes from last year still fit and I just added wings). I LOVE Halloween!
