I've had mild pancreatitis off and on for a couple of years now. It could be due to a bad gall bladder but my surgeon doesn't want to remove it because I don't have classic symptoms of gall baldder disease or gallstones. The pain is not that bad but it triggers me to worry -which I think in turn makes the pain worse. Has anyone else had this? I'm really interested in dietary and natural ways of dealing with this. Chammomile tea seems to help and I am trying to loose weight. Any ideas? Hopefully, it will be one of those things that heals over time.

A little over a month ago I ended up in the hospital with a very bad case of pancreatitis. I was stuck in the hospital for six days and I thought they would never let me go home. Luckily my counts finally dropped and I got to go home. It still bothers me somewhat, but not like it did. I would also like to hear what others have done to take care of themselves. This is no fun and it can still be quite painful.

I was in the hospital several years ago with severe pancreatitis. When I got out I found me a good Naturopathic Physican. She helped me so much. I was eating a lot of low fat foods thinking I was doing good but they have sooo much more sugar in them. My ND told me no sugar, not even fruit for about a month to give me time to heal. She had me everyday take 3 tablespoons of flax oil (almost no other fat), eat wheat germ, nutritional yeast, and I took some kind of digestive enzymes, sorry don't remember what it was. I haven't had any problems. I would recommend you find a good ND.

Thanks Kathy - did you have your gall bladder removed before the digestive enzymes.

Nope, still have my gall bladder. Dr's have been trying to get it since I was 17 and I'm 58. Scheduled for surgery a couple of times and something happens. The last time though I checked out of the hospital against the dr orders. They said I had pancreatitis because of my gall bladder but i knew it was different. Dr called my husband and told him I was going to die without this surgery. I know people who had their gall bladders removed and still had the same problems. I know that would have happened to me also. I believe I was healed, changed my eating habits and no problems since and it has been several years.

Thanks Kathy I also know a lot of people who are still sick or sicker after having their gall bladders removed - including my general practitioner that keeps tellins me I need to convince my surgeon to remove my gall bladder. My surgeon is very conservative and has always made good calls with my family so I am sticking with him. We have one ND around here and she is currently on maternity leave. I am going to cut out sugar and add in the flax oil, wheat germ and nutritional yeast until I can see her. Thanks again!

saw your post and wondered how you made out with your pancreatitis. I was hospitalized twice with it a few years ago but right after I had my gallbladder removed. confused the doc to no end. I still have trouble but not as severe. had to adjust what I ate and how I handle my stress. Many days I wish I still had the gallbladder in
good luck
