Sending prayers that Deborah can find the patience to deal with her MIL. Also prayers that her MIL can find some peace amongst the craziness.

Prayers are on the way, Deborah. It is a hard road, caring for someone who doesn't appreciate or even know that you are there for her, but such a kindness to help her stay in your home rather than in a nursing home among strangers. There is a thread, I think in the health section for caregivers offering support and companionship with others walking the same road.

*Warm farmgirl hug *
So sorry you and she are all going through this.
Keep posting...I know that there is a "caregivers" thread going...don't know where I'll go look.

Take care and blessings

Oh, Deborah... you have my prayers. MANY prayers will be said for you. Have you read the book, "The 36 Hour Day?" It can be tough to read sometimes, but it really helps you understand, helps you keep things in perspective, and helps you to stop feeling guilty about how you're feeling. We went through this with my grandparents, and one of my BFFs is going through it with her mother right now. It can be so physically and emotionally draining. Please remember: you and your hubby absolutely MUST take time for yourselves or you will wear out before your MIL does. There are wonderful adult day cares that will pick up your MIL and give you a few hours of respite. Even if it's just once a month, it would do all of you a world of good. You are giving this woman an incredibly loving gift, and I am sure God will remember and bless you for it many, many times over. I think you're amazing and an inspiration. Big, warm hugs - Nini

Ohh, yes, that is a tough one! Caring for the elderly is tough enough! I have been there! Just smile, take a deep breath, and care for her the best that you can!

I pray for His shalom peace, that which passes all understanding to come over your home and all in it and for an extra measure of God's grace, patience and strength for you both as care givers and an extra measure of that peace for your mother in law.

Praying for you and your Mother in Law. My grandfather passed four years ago after 6 years of suffering with Alzheimers. The mood swings and irritability were worse than the memories lost. The bible tells us that tribulation worketh patience, so instead of praying for you to have patience, I will pray for your strength and for grace sufficient to withstand the hardships.
With love,
Sherri

Sending a prayer. My mom & I took care of my grandmother for 7 years. It was tough, I came home one day & went to my mom's to take gramma to my house and found my mom crying saying she couldn't take it anymore. She said gramma fell out of bed I said where is she and mom cried even harder. For a minute I thought the worse. Again I said mom where is she? Almost afraid of the answer. But mom called the ambulance and gramma went to the hospital. After seeing mom so distraught I called the hospital and they helped me find a nursing home for her. The last 10 years of her life she stayed in a nursing home & mom would go one day an I & my kids the next. We popped in when ever we wanted to and often showed up more than once a day. She always appeared happy and we would take her out for ice-cream and she would even say I have to go back the nurses will miss me.

I know we were very lucky with finding a small nursing home. It ended up being the best for all of us. I hope & pray everything works out well for you. Alzheimers is a very hard illness for everyone to deal with.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Deb, my prayers are with you,I know how hard it is to deal with dementia. What a blessing that you are willing to take care of her instead of putting her in a nursing home. Special crowns await you for your love and caring.
