Do any of you get either of these magazines? If so, what do you think of them? Do you prefer one over the other?

I get the Hobby Farm but did not renew for next year-Some issues don't have anything for me & once in a while one does so I will probably just buy on newstand when it pertains to me. The same with the Hobby Farm Home. I think they are geared more for people with money to buy all the fancy equipment advertised to sell in their mags not the use it up make do kind that I am. I hope this helps.

I'm going to try the "Home" magazine and see what I think but I was wondering if it was a meaty or fluffy magazine! It'll be interesting to see what other have to say too.

| Both are way too "fluffy" for me. Most of the articles are just "tip of the iceberg" articles. |

I have gotten "Hobby Farm Home" for a year now and I'll renew it for next year. I enjoy it alot. I agree, it's not intense nitty gritty, but enjoyable comfortable reading, I've used alot of the recipes and loved them and I've gotten alot of ideas from them. I don't live in the country, so "Hobby Farm" isn't needed at this point. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for in a magazine. Lin

I love the Hobby Farm Home magazine. I will renew my subcription. The Hobby Farm looks good too, but I prefer the Home one. It's funny I don't find it "fluffy" at all. LOL!! I get the ones like Grit, Mother Earth News, Countryside and BackHome. I think they all are cashing in a bit on the "new" green movement and the back to basics stuff we all like. You can't blame them, it's certainly what is selling now. There are parts in all of them I enjoy and parts I don't really relate too. But I like them!

| I love Hobby Farm Home. I use lots of the recipes.I like Hobby farms as well. The same publisher has another magazine called Urban farm that is ok too.Of the 3 Hobby Farm Home is my favorite. |

I really like Hobby Farm Home is great. I have taken the other one too and it was ok, but I didn't renew. Hope my opinion helps. Bonnie

I get them both and don't find them fluffy at all. I don't like every article in them but I don't like every article in any book I subscribe to. I read what I want and skip the rest. My husband picks up the mail and he reads my magazines first. LOL! I just can't do without my magazines and books. I would skip a few meals first to buy them and that would be a real challenge! LOL!

I have subscribed to both...I like them and some things are not for me...but I usually read the whole mag...And they have good recipes.

I really like Hobby Farm Home right now. I go through streaks on magazines. It's like taking a mini vacation when I get one. I like Hobby Farm too, but don't get it regularly. I do like Mother Earth News. I don't get that one all the time now. I guess I am old enough that I think they are re-doing a lot of the old articles..well, I guess that is a lot of magazines.

A coworker let me borrow her back issues of Hobby Farm, Hobby Farm Home, Grit, Mother Earth News, Countryside, Back Home and a few others. While all made for interesting reading, I recently subscribed to Hobby Farm Home because it was the only title I routinely picked up at the newsstand. I like the recipes, decorating and craft ideas. The others simply don't pertain to my situation. I live in the suburbs with a small yard. I container garden (tomatoes, strawberries and cucumbers) and my "livestock" is a wheaten terrier mix dog. I do buy as many locally produced/grown items as possible. I am definitely all about DIY, organic/clean living and becoming more self-sufficient.

My mother gave me the Home version of hobby farms. I enjoyed reading it and will use some of the ideas. They had an (1) article on homeschooling (which is good for some of us) diy repairs, recipes, articles on bbq-ing (since it was a summer issue), using dutch ovens, articles on raising goats, chickens and cows, and edible landscaping. There is more, but I won't waste anymore of your time.

I get both and love both. HF Home probably pertains more to my life right now but I have great aspirations of owning some land and I view the articles in HF as research. They may be a bit elemental but since I haven't grown up around this type of life, I find them informative. I've based my "wants" on information that I read in HF and hope one day to put them in use.

i get hobby farm home and both my hubby and i enjoy it- i too appreciated the home schooling article. i enjoy the recipes in it have made a few- i always look forward to getting a new one although not as much as my mary jane mag! i think it just depends on your personal taste and your lifestyle
