Does anyone have a recipe for homemade strawberry jelly that doesn't use pectin? I tried one a few years ago that called for leaving the strawberries and sugar in the pan for a number of days and stirring it each day but would prefer a one-day system.
what about adding a package of strawberry flavored jello to your cooked down berries and sugar? do not add any extra water, just the jello until it dissolves..then pour into a container to chill. I did this a few years ago..did not can the jelly, simply made enough for a few days worth. I do not know how it would can in a canning method though...but it did gel up.
Thanks ladies. Karen, I may try the one you found and make it a two day get-together. All the women in my family get together to make the jelly, calling in the "Third Annual Strawberry Jam". Mostly it's just fun to get everyone together, the jelly's just a bonus. :)
Tina, I appreciate the suggestion but being a vegetarian means no jello. It sounds like a good idea, though!
