Hmmmmmmm . . . I went to a country 2-room school for grades 1-8. Walked some days, rode my horse the other days. Had Mrs. Hill for 1st grade . . not my favorite. Had Mrs. Lancaster for grade 2-4 . . too grouchy!! Had her husband, Mr. Lancaster for grade 5-8 . . . NOT my favorite. He was too focused on his life in Oklahoma picking cotton!!! That's a VERY LONG time to have the same teacher. These teachers were for all subjects.
Then, culture shock set in when I went to town to high school . . . WOWIE ZOWIE!!! I probably would have to say Mr. Vavak was my favorite throughout high school. He was the band/choir teacher and because I'm a musician, he saw great potential in me and helped me grow in that. I was accompanist for the high school choirs, was able to play that brand new Baldwin Concert grand piano any time I wanted and he was one of my strongest "cheerleaders" when I performed my Senior Recital . . .an hour long recital all by myself and ALL MEMORIZED!!!! That was public school. But Mrs. Seelig was my piano teacher for the last 3 years of my high school . . she was WONDERFUL!!! She would be my favorite outside of public school.
I still see Mr. Vavak around town . . .he's gotta be pushing 90 years old but he very active and out there!!
Our daughter went to the same high school . . .many years later, of course. Interestingly enough some of the same teachers I had were also her teachers . . .and we both liked them because they were some of the best teachers.

Mrs. Carroll...my second grade teacher. She reminded me of a turtle (now I know she suffered from Osteoporosis) and was about 75 when she taught me. She was WAY old school, was very stern, but I left her class knowing how to read, and my handwriting is beautiful. I also learned to respect myself and my elders! To this day, I credit Mrs. Carroll when someone says, "your handwriting is gorgeous--you could make a living addressing Wedding invitations!"

| Mrs. Kurfess, my third grade teacher, she taught almost all eight of us kids. She was white haired and kind as i remember, we made this fluffy sheep out of an oatmeal container and cottonballs with cardboard legs, I kept that thing forever. She and her husband also ran a dairy farm and the field trip of the year was to her farm |

My favorite teacher was my art teacher Mr. Burey, He was very nice to all and I used to babysit for his 5 very well behaved children when he & his wife went skiing. He has a wonderful family. I ran into him & his wife at the local peach festival and asked how his children were doing then he asked about mine, I said Justin was an IT administrator at the TVCU. He said Justin is your son, I said yes. He never knew my married name and said we love him, Mr.B was on the board that hired him.

Mr. Korte, my 7th grade teacher. Obviously I may have other favorites as high school goes on, but so far Mr. Korte is my favorite. He was so funny, nice, and gave the best writing assignments. He really helped me hone my writing skills, and I still have all of the writing assignments from his class. I look back and say, Wow, I remember thinking about that! It was always such a fun class, and he also made math, a hard subject for me, a lot easier.

Ohh this was easy
The best and most favorite teacher I had was Mrs. Schultz. She was my 4th grate teacher who introduced the class to keeping a journal every day and creative writing.
Thanks to her, I kept a diary for well over 15 years! And I still have every last one.
Sadly, she died 2 years ago from Lou Gherig's disease. Such a hateful sad thing for anyone to have to go through
Second best was my 7th and 8th grade science teacher. She saw the potential animal keeper in me and did all she could to encourage my love for animals |

Anna, that is so cool! My favorite grades were 3rd, 5th, and 7th so far.
