Greetings to everyone! My name is Letha and I have lived in the country since 1999. I grew up in St Louis but was the most country girl in the city. My family has always gardened, canned, raised birds (chickens, quail, ducks), crochet, knit, sew and so many other things. I was lucky to find a husband that enjoys doing those same things and he already lived in the country so we were a perfect match. We live in town but have a small farm a few miles away. We would live out there but we don't have a well dug yet and the farm house that's there is a little scary, lol. So we are doing what we can as we can and just enjoy spending as much time out there as possible. |

Welcome from western NC. glad you have a hubby with your same interests. Pretty much have done the same thing you have, but not the quail part. would love to hear more about your "scary farmhouse". :)
Make my words soft and tender, for I may have to eat them. :) |

That scary farmhouse is just really old...let me rephrase that, it's a good canidate for firewood, lol. We are going to carefully go through it and recycle anything we can though. We want to build our house but we're not sure if we want to do a sod house, cord wood, or straw bales. We want an off grid, for the most part, farm. We still need the internet for a lot of things and the dreded cell phones, lol.

Welocme Leatha From Lockwood CA, You sound like you are a part of my family and my life, we two are working on our project on ower ranch and living on another ranch, For us it was water first then started builting our line shack (small one room building) and finally power that was a big one, and just adding to it as we can afford. But its ours. Best of Luck and welcome to the sisterhood.

Welcome Letha from NE Ohio. Glad you found us. Ya, a big old farmhouse can be a little intimidating if you aren't use to it, I'm sure. So glad you and DH share the same interests. My DH was raised a city boy but loves working at his Mom's farm Fixing things. So I think he's changed-over pretty well! He's "Morphed" into a handy-man type now. haha This is a great site. Enjoy!
