Hello ladies, I was wondering does anyone have a very simple and I mean simple pattern for a half apron. I looked on Mary Jane's site and still feel those are a bit hard for me. I am quilter but sewing is not my cup of tea but I think I can do an apron. Thanks for your help.

Oh Tammy if you are a quilter you have the skills to design one. Here is what I teach folks. Take a measuring tape and measure around your waist. That number will be key so write it down. Now if you wish just a flat front apron take that number and divid it in half and that will be the size of your front panel or if you want a full apron use the number as is - it will give you a full twiller apron. Since you quilt you can just cut out a square that meets the style apron and then that size is used as your template to do crazy quilting, blocks, whatever your have around. Then take that number and double it to cut out your band. Again, think of it as making a band for a quilt. I like to make my bands at least 8 inchs wide so when you fold it in half you have a band that lays nice and neat. Don't forget to also fold over and press for a crisp fold and also sew or iron in your seam allowance. Now, you can seam your front with bias tape, or just sew under a seam allowance on all three sides. Next divide the front in half to find the center, divide your band in half and meet those together so everything is in the middle. Pin the band along the top unseamed edge and again think of it as putting your edge on a quilt.
I hope that makes sense but really if you think of it in terms of quilting I know you will be designing your own creations very soon and with your talents of quilting you soon will be putting those quilting designs into your aprons in no time. Thank you Grace. I will be printing out your directions. I have never crazy quilt, but I do mostly straight lines. Ist hat what I would be using in your directions for the apron? I am thinking I could have a lot of questions..hehe and good thing I have lots of scraps...:)
Yes, just think of it as the process to finish a oblong quilt. Edging is the same - don't need to be too fancy to begin with but once you get the hang of it your creative side will take off... Questions are always welcome and everyone will do their best to help.

Thank you jotted that down with the other instructions. I haven't started yet but I am a teacher so am also getting classroom ready but find this will be good stress release and I am learning something new. Thanks so much Grace for your help and encouragement. It really helps and makes me smile.
