Farmgirls, If you love to read, please read the article "From a Faraway Land" in the latest issue of MJF. It is a touching letter from fellow farmgirl Aimee Steiner to MaryJane. The people on this small island are hungry for books, magazines, even DVDs. I know I give away piles of books to our library and schools every year, so perhaps we can direct our donations to Rota, a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean. Check out Aimee's website for more information at www.gypsyfaith.com. Dianne (textilelover and booklover)

That really was a lovely, inspiring article! What is the shipping cost for sending books to them? Sara

I have a collection of books from the Habitat restore, not to mention my own, that I went through ready to go once I can get back to organized, (Emptied two rooms to replace the carpet and the house is "full"!)

I have not figured out the shipping costs yet but I do know "book rates" are considerably lower than regular shipping. However, you cannot put anything else in the package, not even a note! My postal clerk told me they'll open and check--as if that's the worst thing going through our postal system. Dianne

I was thinking of trying to get some group in my town interested in collecting the items Aimee mentioned and then finding a generous donor to pay for shipping. Maybe some of you might be able to do the same.

It really was a touching and inspirational letter. MJF magazine is one of life's little blessings.
