I'm new and have been exploring and having a great time reading and commenting.

But I have been wondering about whether there is some sort of general discussion type section, you know, just plain visiting!

Is this it? Is across the fence where we come to just hob nob and visit about whatever?

Thank you, thank you!

I haven't been to the Porch yet! There's so much to see here and to process in my head! But I've been enjoying every minute of it!

I introduced myself at the Welcome Wagon and met some very nice and awesome ladies there.

I'm a California gal, have been all my life. I live in the country with my husband and three of my adult kids. They are all three full times students at our community college.

I have five grandchildren and babysit for my youngest who is 23 months while DD works as an RN.

I lived in the country all my life except for about seven years when I left home, attended school and all around just going about "finding myself" as I was a free spirit.

I've been married to the same man forever, and we have six kids.

I bake all the bread we eat for about the last 30 years, cook from scratch. I haven't had a food garden for a few years now, but know how, and know how to put food up and I cook from scratch.

I'm committed to taking at least one art class per semester for the rest of my life.

We are a creative family and since this past February I've been maintaining our Etsy shop where we sell handforged, organic, and primitive jewelry that my hubby designs and creates.

OK I can't believe that I'm going on and on and on about myself!

Please forgive me and talk to me as I want to know who you all are too! I'm looking forward to all of you!

Just go slow and enjoy all of it, Violet!! You're absolutely right, there's alot!!! You're going to make wonderful friends, learn lots and be able to share so much too! You certainly have lots to share!! That is so exciting!! I love sewing, junking at yard sales, flea markets, antique/junk shops and second hand stores, and also love quilt shops!! Love to cook and make my own bread when time permits. There are so many very talented gals here and it sounds like you are joining them with many talents of your own!! Welcome again!! Lin

Hello! I just had to check out your post. There is actually a restaraunt just down the road from us called 'The Hob Nob' and so the title here caught my eye. I love to cook from scratch and am still learnin a lot. I am tryin today to learn to make bread. I finally made cinnamon rolls and got them to turn out right, so bread is next.

I have been gardenin my whole life, but the land we're currently livin on has been a big bust for gardenin. We are gettin a good bit to grow this year, but it's not producin right. We have been tryin to heal the ground every year and we are so close to gettin it right. I am hopin to be able to can for our family next year. This year it'll only be a little tomato sauce and maybe some diced tomatoes. I do have us almost a years worth of jelly put up, just waitin for the fall fruit to finish out. I'm in the process of replantin a late garden for maybe some fall produce to put in our drop pit cellars.

Well, for the most part that's me in a nutshell. And you know what you find in nutshells, right? NUTS!

mamawolf, Lin, emsmommy, Natesgirl, cj, Diane, Sherryre, Tami, Staci, and Marly!!!

Thank you so much for the kind and warm welcome!

Lin, I love to sewing too! And junking! I love flea markets and vintage stores! It sounds like lots of you girls do too!

natesgirl, I'm sure you know that making bread is about technique and watching the dough. It sounds like you have gardening down!

I know what you're talking about when it comes to the earth and the soil. Where we're at now has hardpan and clay. A real chore!

I'm looking forward to hanging out with you all! I think this will be the first place I come to from now on! I haven't seen the Porch yet, but Lin, I'll heed your advice and take it slow and enjoy it all!
