I am just so thankful today. My husband was laid off for about 6 months, from the end of September to the end of March, well he ran out of unemployment benefits right when his boss called him to go back to work (he's in construction) so we didn't fill out the EUC paperwork (for an extension) because it looked like work would be steady. Well, some jobs dried up and John had to fill out that paperwork in June and sent it in. It was received the same week that the senate voted not to extend unemployment aid again, so even though he hadn't received any extensions he was denied. He makes way more money than I do ( his unemployment check is equal to my regular check) so with him not having any income for over a month we are really behind. Fortunately our state offers state funded extended benefits and they sent him a check for the four weeks that he hasn't had any income. I added up all the bills we were behind on and all the bills I would normally have paid by this point in the month (we are behind on the mortgage and all the house bills) and the check we received was exactly one dollar more than we needed. I couldn't believe it. I am so incredibly thankful today - and have gained such an understanding of folks who don't have that safety net.
Everyone who is still unemployed and facing financial insecurity has my constant prayers.
I have also decided to celebrate this by stepping up our charitable giving and my own volunteer work. I am really feeling a need to give back.
Thank you to all here who provide a network of support!!

Wow! Isn't God just the best? That's happened to us many times before. Just in the nick of time and just enough. Wow. Goose bumps all over. That's just awesome!
