Hi everyone, I've discovered that good old hydrogen peroxide, used instead of iodine for most applications works so well, and hey, if you have mouldy leather or books that you really want to keep, soak a cotton ball in peroxide and squeeze out the excess, then wipe the mouldy spots. You'll have to change the cotton ball often, but oh boy does it work! The mould doesn't come back, and it doesn't take out the dye in leather at least, and either cleans or gently removes a bit of dye in book covers. It also doesn't dry out or harm the leather. Thanks for the tip. I am finding that I can use hyd. per. for a lot of things.... The most recent discovery is that it takes the yellow urine stains out of the rabbits fur just before show time. We've bathed our rabbits and even used a bleach spray. Then a light bulb went off in my head, "If I use hyd. per. to take out stains in clothes then why not rabbits?"

Isn't it great! I am so glad you shared Lorna Jean!! We recently had a ceiling fall in and dumping yucky water everywhere leaving mould and mildew all over lots of things. This will be most helpful!!!
Have you ever tried using it for a mouth rinse. Tastes yucky but is really great!

It is great and I use it for a lot of things. Just keep in mind that to much of it on an open wound can promote scare tissue build up. It is best to use it to clean the would initially and then switch to something else.

It heals canker sores too. Didn't know about the mold removal, will keep that on file!!

We use it to brush teeth with the tooth paste. Helps kill bacteria in your gums.

you know, I used it to get out blood, and it didn't take it out all the way. I followed the hyd. scrub with cold washing. Katherine, was that the right thing to do?

If you put a little at the end of a q-tip and lightly put i in your ear it helps dissolve ear wax.

| I use hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar to clean my kitchen counters and other surfaces that have to be mold-free and disinfected. I keep two spray bottles filled with these cheap, effective products under the sink, next to a bucket of rags. I forget where I read this, but there are lots of lab studies to show that this easy wham/bam combination kills more germs and mold spores than anything, including full-strength chlorine bleach. I also do what Claudia does if I bite the inside of my cheek or something. Mouth ouches usually heal pretty quickly on their own, but I like to help ensure that by swishing a little peroxide around to let it do its foaming thing. |

If it takes out urine yellow off rabbits fur.....I bet it can make my horses white tail much cleaner looking - can't WAIT to try it! Thanks for the tip!

Catherine, don't the rabbits lick it off? I have a pet indoors rabbit and I'd love to try it on his feet but I would hate for him to lick it since it shouldn't be ingested.

Our mastiff ate an entire package of chocolate when I was taking my daughter to school and the vet had me give her hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. While it made for one disgusting, bubbling chocolate vomit mess, it kept our Joplin from potentially dying from the overdose. I had no idea hydrogen peroxide was used for this and I'm a nurse!

Do I have to use them in a specific order or doesn't it matter?

As for blood, I have heard that the person whose blood it is should spit on the spot and it will come out. I have tried it myself when I have cut myself and gotten the blood on my blouse. It does work. Of course if it is large amount of blood then it would not do the job.
Rosemary,
Do you dilute either of those with water or use them full strength? I use vinegar diluted for my countertops but full strength for my refrigerator.

Oops, sorry I only just saw this. Pardon me for not answering until now! I actually use them together,one bottle in each hand, spritzing at the same time. But I don't think it matters which goes first. Do try it.

More about the vinegar/hydrogen peroxide spray for disinfecting surfaces. This is for disinfecting and preventing mold, not cleaning. You clean first, with whatever method you prefer, then follow up with this. And it's very important to keep the hydrogen peroxide in the brown opaque bottle it comes in, because it breaks down fast when exposed to sunlight. You can use the sprays on countertops, bathroom surfaces, cutting boards, and anything else you can think of that needs to be really clean.

I use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to clean my white grout lines. It cleans the grout over night like I have never seen with very little scrubbing.

I use a tsp of peroxide mixed with 1 tsp of baking soda for a teeth whitener.Give it a try it works.
warning though ladies it tastes gross and you should use only use it once a week. and then gradually fade out to once a month or the occasional whitener.
