I was just wondering if any of you gals are on Weight Watchers? I just started up 3 weeks ago and thought that if there was anyone else doing it we could check in and hold each other accountable :)

Sharon, I have joined Weight Watchers back in April. I am almost at my goal but not quite. How are you doing so far? Denise

Hey Denise,
I have only been on for 3 weeks and lost 5.6 pounds :) That's great that you are almost at goal
I'm not going to the meetings because we can't afford it right now. I have been learning alot though: ~How measuring food really makes a difference ~Learning to make wiser & healthier choices ~And what foods are best for me to stay away from :)
I have a friend who is also doing WW and we talk once a week to check in :)
I suppose I should try to figure out what my ideal weight should be, I am just setting myself 5 pound goals right now so I won't get discouraged.

I can email you your healthy weight range for your height if you tell me how tall you are. Yes, it is wonderful if you can make the meetings because they have so many tips and ideas. Usually when you first start your body is putting off a lot of water weight. that is why you will lose a lot quickly in the beginning. I use the e tools online. I did find out that once you hit your goal weight you have to maintain it for 6 weeks before you can become a lifetime member and only weigh in once a month. They say not to weigh yourself everyday but I still do it. ;) Let me know if I can help you at all. Just don't get discouraged because this is a lifestyle change not a diet.

Thank you for your encouragement Denise and Karen :)
You know Denise I really do struggle with weighing myself everyday :) Last night I put the scale in the cabinet in the bathrrom instead of leaving it out.
I do subscribe to the magazine and have found alot of neat tips and encouragement there too.
Okay Denise, no laughing now. I am 4'11 & 3/4". I go by 5 feet. 5'2" if I fluff my hair :)
Oh, I found this website with alot of neat sounding recipes with point value:

I'll email you Sharon and I was wondering if you know how many points you are supposed to be taking in for a day?

I have only 2 lbs to go to my goal and I just can't seem to get it off. But I am sticking with it to the finish and working to keep it off for good. Something I like about the program is that it is NOT touted as a diet but a healthy lifestyle. Do you do a lot of walking? I do but only at work.

Hi Denise :)
Thanks for the information :) I take in 20 points a day (that is what my friend told me according to the chart)
I think that you are doing great Denise!!! I can understand the frustration when hitting a plateau so close. You'll do it!!! YOu are almost there :)
I don't do alot of walking, but I do exercise at least 4 times a week: 45 minutes on the recumbent bicycle and I have been doing arm weights. 8 pound weights and 100 reps of butterflies and 100 reps of curls.
Thank you SO MUCH Denise I am praying for you (and you too Karen :))

Sharon, You are welcome. I know it is so much easier when you have support. I am all for a healthier lifestyle. Mine has not been a very healthy eating diet after I was out on my own. My parents always had a garden and raised their own poultry so we had lots of good stuff to choose from. When I got older and started making my own eating choices is when it went downhill. But I start new every day if I have to. Not that I have to because since being on the program I have stuck with it pretty well. I think everyone has those times of slipping but you can always start from the time you realize it. Whether it be the next day or the next meal. I know you can do this so we will just stay accountable.

Sounds like a plan Denise :)
Unlike you I was raised in junk food. We ALWAYS had cookies, candy, ice cream, chips and things like twinkies in the house. Not just one type of item at a time but everything. I have always had a problem with sweets.
I feel that I have been doing pretty good too. I keep within my allowed points and use the weekly allowance if need be (like when friends came for dinner :) I splurged and had my hamburger on a bun and then had dessert 1/16 pice of pie)
I look forward to checking in with you Denise :) Thank you!

Well, I went to a meeting this morning. I knew it was going to be great but a little loss is better than none. The meetings really do help get me back on track. How are you doing with it Sharon?
Karen, Do you know anyone on WW and are you trying it?

That's great Denise! Any loss is better than none and especially better than gaining :)
Well, I made the mistake of getting on the scale every day this week and it looked like it would be a pretty good loss. I got on the scale this morning and I lost .4 pounds. I was a bit disappointed. Next week some things are expected (:)) so I think that may be why, I do feel a little bloated :)
I have been tracking everything and staying within my points. Making better food choices too, lots of produce :)

Well, today was good. I stayed within my points. Nighttime is the worst because that is when I want to snack. But I am grabbing a cup of tea and heading for a book I got today so that should me away from the snacking.

So far so good with me too! I started week 5 yesterday and kept within my points. Tea and a book sounds good sounds like a good snack I wonder if we should call snacking a treat and then we can think outside of the food realm and think of tea & a book, a bubble bath or something like that.

I did WW a few years ago and had success with it. I've put a few pounds back on, it's easy to get comfortable after awhile and not be so careful.
I should jump back on the wagon before it's to late!
I really like that you have points instead of counting calories.

Yay!!! We can encourage each other!
Violet,
A friend actually gave me the information I needed to get started (point chart, food companion, etc.) I cannot afford to go to the meetings so I am winging it with my friends :) Denise goes to the meetings and is almost at goal :)

Weigh in for me today :)
Last week's check in I had girl issues and didn't show much of a loss but this past week made up for it :) I lost 2.6 pounds!!! So, to date after being on WW for 5 weeks I have lost a total of 8.4 pounds :) It is getting easier and I read labels more than ever now :) I still have about 10-15 more pounds to lose (we'll see when I get closer) but am looking at 5 pound goals to make it less overwhelming :)
How are you ladies doing?

Hi Violet, Yes, yes come hang out with us. I have been on weight watchers since the beginning of April and have lost 12.6 lbs. Still have a little to go. Very little and it has really been hard to get these last couple off. It is much easier if you have some way to be accountable. When I reach goal I might post a picture.

I just joined and had my first weigh-in Saturday. I've lost 6 lbs. Woohoo! I LOVE that I don't have to go out and buy special food. I can make most everything in my pantry work. And what won't work, the boys eat. |

I would love to see what I could eat on Weight Watchers but they are sooooo secretive about it all And I really haven't the money to find out that I can have celery sticks and water. And still be as hungry and fat as always. So will continue counting calories.

Congratulations Christy!!! That's awesome! Keep up the good work :)
I weighed in this morning and lost 1.6 pounds bringin it to a 10 pound total loss so far :) WooHoo! On to week 7.
Denise and Violet, how are you doing?
Diana, You can pretty much eat anything. It is based on a point system. At my weight I am allowed 20 points per day. I have learned to make better and healthier choices for what I intake based on this. For example 1 cup of fresh cherries or berries has 1 point value where as a piece of pie (1/8 of a pie) can be anywhere from 5 points up. So I try to make wiser decisions based on that. There is also alot of measuring which is good. Portion control helps to correctly determine the point value. I cannot afford to go to meetings, a friend got me started with how many points I am allowed and I found WW Food Companion book at the Thrift store telling me point value.

I joined online and it's only $55 for three months. You could spend that much in a couple of weeks or less on diet foods and such that don't work. The online tools are fabulous! |
